They couldnt deny it and realized the timing is ideal for choosing another MVP when he regresses a bit.
winning is the only cure. he wasn't in the conversation 2-3 weeks ago because we were 14th in the west. he will get gassed before paul and gordon get back but the statement has been made. he single handedly leapfrogged 9 teams in the standings. there may be some backslide but when we get our guards back and make the deadline trade we will close the season so strong he will be tough to argue against. there isn't a lot of competition for the MVP: davis? won't win it on a lotto team. kawhi? the raptors were the best in the east before kawhi. he's out of the convo just like when KD joined the warriors. jokic? only if the nuggets wish #1 or #2 in the west. i don't think they will once the warriors and rockets get healthy. giannis? very strong chance if he finishes top 3 in the east. lebron? would take a top 3 finish in the west. no one on stacked teams like the warriors or sixers no matter how good their record is. harden's only real competition is giannis. jokic and lebron are easily beat by having more wins and better numbers. it will be harder to have more wins and better numbers than giannis. if its close at all it goes to giannis.
Right now it is Giannis and Harden. Giannis has the "team wins" right now and that is big. Harden has ground to make up there. But Harden getting this "narrative" push is a BIG deal in his favor. But still a lot of season left. ALL EYES will be on the Rockets/Bucks game next week. Harden really needs a "statement" game to keep the narrative talk going.
he can't have one of those "kawhi blocks him to win the game" moments against giannis next week. he's gotta have his averages and win.
Well, we play GS in two days on TNT in primetime. If we beat them and Harden plays great then maybe the nation will care. If we lose and Harden plays great, then they'll just say he can't win with his playing style. If he plays poorly, win or lose, then they'll just say he had a good run until he played a good team and it won't work in the playoffs, etc.
Give me the wins over the MVP. MVP is ancillary to winning the championship. I want both, but focus should just be on the wins. Media can hate on Harden all they want, it motivates him to prove them wrong. Just keep our eye on the crown.
Harden must be doing something right. They hate you when you are so good and when you rip their hearts out while destroying their favorite team in the process. Let them pound sand......let the eat cake. Pound Cake.
Harden will shut everyone up when he wins a Finals MVP award. And to be realistic, probably not even then.
Kellerman should just go back to HBO Saturday night fights. Dude is a straight clown when it comes to any other sports. Harden for MVP 4th year in a row should be the narrative. Should be going for back to back ships too. Truth.
I dont give a shi* about none of this... just keep getting better together.... get healthy.... learn to manage mins for Paul and Harden in the reg season... and get ready to play in the playoffs.
Matt Moore (for the most part) has been defending Harden against the whining, even Bball Breakdown has gotten behind the beard and there's Kevin O'Conner, Nate Jones (large NBA Twitter following). They're not big TV guys, but they have cred. There's a gulf in how he's being watched and understood and it's showing ever more that there are those who watch, and those who just comment.
https://www.sfchronicle.com/sports/...rs-Houston-christen-the-new-year-13502192.php I'm not the type to look for, or care about what anyone has to say, but check out this admitted trolling article in the SF Chronicle. It's hilarious that they can't even come up with a clever insult... just rehashing the same BS we hear every day with not even one new twist. Serious SF? You can't do any better than that? I thought you were a city of "creatives", but you sic this senile old dude on us? Embrace the hate people! It's the highest compliment in BB. It's better to be hated than losers or San Antonio. And someone please kick Green in the nuts tomorrow.
