Why does the mainstream media always dislike Harden?

    "The dog, that I am."

That was because Durant left, and that was the story.

Makes you wonder had Westbrook come to Houston to play with Lin and then Howard, while Harden stayed in OKC, and became the lone star after Durant left ... then, ....

btw: we lost to Spurs in 2nd Round in WB's MPV year, not GSW in WCF.

And combine that with Howard being here, after.

    Ask yourself this OP --

If you were an opposing team's fan in the Western Conference, would you like how Harden plays??

I couldn't stand all his flopping and drawing cheap fouls if I followed a different rival team

    • So, you actually like Curry more than Harden, in a purely objective sense.
    • And you like Durant more...despite his constant, public whining
    • And Westbrook's stat-padding path to not making teammates better.
    • And Anthony Davis' inability to win. I don't dislike Davis, but he's "meh" to me, because he got a loser game.
For me, the player who can drive to make the most layups in the league is going to get fouled the most (in every era), and refs are also going to miss the most raking of his arms, and shoving him in the back, bad charging calls, etc. It goes both ways.

And at some point, the defenders are going to have to learn to stop jumping underneath his feet on those step-back threes. It's a dangerous play, and he falls (aka "flops") on those, because the absolutely SAFEST way to land, when you land on someone's foot, is to absorb that landing with your butt. If you land hard on your feet, you will eventually have an ankle injury, due to guys jumping under you, foolishly trying to block your shot.

Not trying to make excuses, just a fact that he lands on ppl's feet, and it's best to absorb that landing with your butt. Look at Celtics game when Horford jumped under him. You can see Harden's ankle turn a lot on such plays, but he knows to land softly.

Page 3 and no one has said the real reason why Harden gets hate: The infamous "Greatest Defender" viral YouTube video.

That defensive lowlight video is the single worst thing to happen to Harden's career. It's the genesis of all Harden hate and has metastasized from there. Thanks to that video EVERY accomplishment is followed by a "but".

That video and Harden's offensive dominance is the reason Two-Way player is a thing now.

I don’t know if that video was made by a Jeremy Lin fan but it may as well have been. Lin fans wanted any reason to trash Harden... That Lin should be the primary ball handler, that Harden couldn’t lead a team, that he turned the ball over too much, can’t play defense, went to the strip club too much, etc etc. Lin fans pushed all of the critical narratives of Harden out of resentment, supposedly because Harden was holding back Lin’s true potential. I honestly believe his image would be much better without that period.

The media does not hate James Harden. Stupid kids on the internet hate James Harden. ESPN has been giving him stupid love, and this morning Jay Williams just called him the MVP.

If you dun like those playes on rivals' teams then do not watch them, care about them.

People have too much time and energy on their hands to hate on players. It's not worth it.

I guess Indifference is the way to go.

Harden works the "system" better than any other player. He is an expert at drawing fouls. The media considers that "cheating." Harden is not a great shooter, ball handler, passer, or defender. Yet, he is good enough to run up huge stats. The media doesn't like that either. He is a big strong guard that appears to bully other players. That's another one. Interestingly they love LBJ who has some of the same characteristics.

here's an objective harsh reality for you, every single player in the nba is flopping and trying to draw 'cheap fouls',
why do they not get the calls ?

because it doesn't pay to foul them since they could be contained in other ways

PS i adored harden when he was on OKC
ps 2 the only thing that is ugly about his game is the turnovers when he is tired and gassed up

I think he is great at 'shooting', not catch and shoot but off the dribble without being assisted by anyone, just flatout pull up or step back shots. He has mastered that.

The thing is it won't be considered pure shooting but it's his unique way of shooting.

Not sure you watched his shooting especially from the three point line because he is a great shooter
