Maybe he didn't read his own book? Maybe he didn't write his own book? Maybe he didn't read Tony Schwartz's book?

The people who are actually missing are apparently in Hawaii right now.

Compromise means meeting halfway. It does not mean having a tantrum and refusing to negotiate, which is where the Democrats are right now.

Well, now is the time for them to own that. I may be mistaken, but I think they are going to have to.

its trump, mojoman and the brainwashed trumpublicans who need to put americas interest before politics. as borebythegreat said, the fight over the wall is all about politics and not letting trump look bad for failing to deliver. thats all yall really care about and everyone knows it.

When you consider that the Democrats shut down the government over less money than that shutdown has cost the US government, I think that's true. I mean, you had a bill out of the house that would have passed the senate and been signed if not for a Democrat filibuster, I'm not sure how they can be seen as anything more than obstructionists who put "orange man bad" ideology over country.

That is exactly where this is at right now. If the Democrats are not willing to compromise on this issue, the government should remain partially shut down until they do. Until then, it is their choice. It is their fault. It is their T.D.S. on full disgraceful display for all to see.

The question will be if the Republicans have the balls to hold out until the Democrats cave. In the past, the Republicans have been fairly spineless. If the Republicans cave this time, 2020 will be a bloodbath for their party.

and as you admitted, this is why you want the wall. because trump promised it and if he doesnt deliver it will make him look bad.

i know it hurts you trumpublicans to hear this, but its not our fault that trump promised to build a wall AND MAKE MEXICO PAY FOR IT. that is 100% on him and its you trumpublicans fault for believing a narcissistic con-artist.

Why should the government shut down over a catorgory of incidents(illegal border crossings) when these incidents are at a half a century low for the past decade?

Because Trump hypes it up as a unprecidented problem in our country to gin up jingoist juices because it's a very easy tactic to garner votes?

Well, one of the former leading cavers is currently leading the way in standing firm this time. Lindsay Graham.

I think the Kavanaugh hearings were a rude awakening for a lot of these capitulating Republicans who thought they could appease their way to success with the Democrats. Kavanaugh is as moderate, as honorable, as reasonable and as any Republican could ever hope to be. It was during those hearings that many of these marginal, RINO type Republicans saw that there is no lie these Democrat leftists will not tell and no slander or smear that is too despicable or too grotesque for them to engage in against their political adversaries. And if Kavanaugh was marked for this kind of completely unprincipled political hatchet job, live on CSPAN and all the news networks for all the world to see, then they are wasting their time expecting any better for themselves.

This is the last day on the job for Jeff Flake and Bob Corker. There are still two more of these types left in the Senate in Ben Sasse and Lisa Murkowski. But with 53 votes, they hopefully will not be a factor. In the House, the Democrat's agenda appears to be shaping up to be so radical that not even marginal Republicans are likely to be tempted to go along. Nancy Pelosi is going to be counter-balancing to the right to try to keep that train from coming off of the rails. Marginal Republicans are likely going to be watching this in wide-eyed wonder.

I do not think these marginal Republicans in the House are going to help them with this. Nor should they.

No, it's not why I want the wall, I said it's why Trump absolutely has to deliver it if he wants any hope of re-election.

The reason I want the wall is because it is needed. I wouldn't care which president finally took border security seriously and built it. When you have 89% of Border Patrol saying that a border wall is necessary for them to properly do their job, there's not many good arguments against it. Anyone who truly wanted to solve the problem of illegal immigration and the unsecured southern border would support some form of a border wall. The problem is that not many people truly want to solve that problem. Both people on the left and right kind of like having essentially a slave class in the country to take advantage of.

your hero trump already accepted 100% responsibility for the shut-down. why do you guys constantly fail to hold trump accountable for his words and actions?

"I will take the mantle. I will be the one to shut it down. I'm not going to blame you for it." - president trump

also, trump said that when the government shuts down its always the presidents fault and its up to him to bring people together and make a deal.

    No fantasy border wall needed.

Trump campaigned on a issue that riles up jimgoiji juices. It requires to empirical evidence. Just gut feelings.
