Remittances from the US to those countries contributes a very significant portion to their GDP. In Mexico it is 2.8% and is nearly 4x higher in other countries. Giving these countries more money, more aid, and more trade deals is just throwing good money after bad. Trump should totally have restricted all aid to these countries.
We’re talking about 0.4% of discretionary spending that could save thousands of lives on both sides of the border. Instead of nationalistic cooperation we are met with the scripted NPC response of “Orange man bad”, Tweet dumps, and mindless contumacy.
