Is it just me or does Rivers' jumpshot eerily resemble Darryl Drains?

Looking like a great signing. Apparently a system player who fits well in our system.

I’m not seeing signs of the coaches son spoiled little diva. Hopefully that never arises while with Houston.

Another shooter to spread the floor has opened things up for the other perimeter shooters. Gordon and House
look better from 3 since his arrival.

Is there any realistic way we can re-sign him next summer? We'll be over the cap with no bird rights and our MLE would be a pretty big paycut for him.

I still like Cisco Garcia, but Austin bears a resemblance.

the market dicates his pay. and so do the fans. i think we can get him for less than the MLE. He is a role player that has to fit perfectly on a team and there aren't many teams out there that may need him like we do. For every austin rivers out there, there are rookies like house coming into the league every year who are younger. i'd be shocked if he got the MLE from anyone because he's not young anymore and has reached his peak. he can't get much better. he fits perfectly in Dantoni's system and filled a great need spot in a defensive stopper. i think we found ourself a season changing steal.

as much as i didn't like the guy when he played for clippers, i could see what he brought. he always played hard, hit open 3s, got into the lane for layups uncannily, and i feel like he'll do the same for us.he allows eric gordon to save his legs for offense.

I changed my mind. Austin Rivers can come to the BBQ. Guess this is how people feel about Pat Beverly.

He's been paid $11m+ the last 3 seasons and he's only 26. Our MLE is a 50% paycut, if he continues to play well he'll be worth way more.

I've never seen Austin River's shot chart. I'm surprised Morey hasn't gone after him before.

yea well he got that from the clippers. i know he's only 26, but for NBA player, they are mostly who they are by then. he's not going to ever be more than a role player. there is only so much money that gets thrown around and others who are just as good get screwed for the minimum. like when we got luc. isaiah thomas. etc. its not that he's not worth more, he is. but the market dictates the salary.

He was waived because no one was willing to pay that salary or even part of that salary. No one was willing to give up an expiring salary to get his expiring salary. He's not getting over the MLE next season despite how well he plays here.

He also got paid by the Wizards, not just the Clippers. 3+d players are worth more than 5.5m, look at what we paid Beverley.

this is exactly right. its a business. they weren't willing to pay luc or ariza because they know that they can always find minimum players who want to boost there career playing for a contender, like house and rivers. and if rivers goes somewhere else, there will always be another luc, josh smith, beverley, or rivers. this is why daryl morey is a great GM. its a business and you're going to have to find cheap role players.

i agree he's worth more, but morey will let him walk for that. he can always find someone cheaper. it doesn't help rivers that he is not a league-wide fan favorite. also, although is very good at defense, he's not a stopper, though he's playing the role. in other words, if they're going to pay that much, they can always try and get someone who costs more, who is a true defensive stopper.

I remember a couple years ago legitimately believing that Rivers was only hanging in the NBA because of his name. May still be true but he evolved into a nice rotation player.

I know it's XMas, but there really hasn't been much said in the media about us picking him up. Surprised given how much airtime Ariza to DC got.
This has kinda flown under the radar a bit.

It's refreshing to see him bust his ass on D trying to stay in front of guys on the perimeter. Something the Rockets defense has been sorely lacking this season.
