@Bobbythegreat has already made some arbitrary judgment of which promises matter and which ones are just fine and dandy. Building the wall matters and who pays for it, doesn't. For some reason, it isn't okay to hold Trump accountable for that promise.
Feel free to disagree if you like, but you'd be wrong. It's just like how Democrats didn't care that Obama was outright lying for months about how Obamacare wouldn't allow you to keep your plan or your doctor if you liked them. They simply cared that he passed it no matter what the outcome was. This is no different.
Not really, in fact most just made excuses for his outright lies during the time he was trying to sell it to the public because they approved of the overall policy. They just wanted the policy passed, they didn't care about the lies told along the way....you know, similar to how I pointed out that Trump's base wouldn't care about the "Mexico will pay for it" lies that were told during the campaign, they just want the border secured.
Nope, not really similar at all. In fact, Obama himself discussed how his claim had been inaccurate. Wanting to get a bill passed despite the dishonesty is different than not caring or not acknowledging. It certainly mattered that Obama lied.
LOL well of course you don't think so! As to that issue, perhaps we are willing to admit that Obama outright lied about it for months now, but as of maybe a month or two back, we still had people defending his statements as accurate, blaming his intentional lies on Republican interference. Honestly there's not much difference between the two lies...the only reason why some view them as different is due to their political leanings and opinions about the 2 presidents.
What does Obamacare have to do with Trump's wall? you know Bobby has lost the argument when he starts his whataboutism logical fallacy, it's his last resort.
I hate to have to be the guy to explain this to you, but for me to have been guilty of "whataboutism logical fallacy" which is actually called "appeal to hypocrisy", I would have to be arguing that Trump wasn't lying when he said that Mexico would pay for the wall. By pointing out the hypocrisy, I wasn't attempting to suggest that Trump wasn't lying, I was just putting his lie in context. Right now there is a real "orange man bad" mentality out there and people constantly pretend like things Trump is doing or has done are ALWAYS completely different from other presidents before him or other politicians. I'm merely trying to restore a bit of sanity to the conversation. Funny enough, the "BUT WHAT ABOUT TRUMP SAYING THAT MEXICO WOULD PAY FOR THE WALL" nonsense was actually nothing more than a red herring used in an effort to derail the conversation after points I made couldn't be disputed. In short, you're wrong, but what else is new?
Blame you for laziness? No, I blame you for your dishonesty, since you pulled a partial quote, as the full quote that I provided showed the author's true intentions. But no surprise a trump defender would resort to such dishonesty. And by the way, the Cato Institute is a libertarian organization.
2015: US (non-alcoholic) drug overdose deaths: 52,404 Mexican homicide rate: 16.9 2017: US drug overdose deaths: 72,306 (provisional) Mexican homicide rate: 23.6 Drug overdose death data: https://www.drugabuse.gov/related-topics/trends-statistics/overdose-death-rates Mexican homicide data: https://elcri.men/ A WALL CAN ONLY MAKE THINGS WORSE!
Isn't that drug overdose rate increase from illicit Fentanyl? (which is a synthetic opioid predominantly from China) I wouldn't expect any measure to have much of an impact on the drug trade beyond a couple months of adjustment (street price will spike a little for a few weeks and that'll probably be it), though i'm sure it will be tried to be sold to the people that way. If there's any country that has killed off the drug trade, then i might change my mind but until then. Australia and New Zealand are islands in the middle of nowhere with much stricter customs regimes and they can't stop it, even countries with draconian level punishment can't dent it, however stopping the people trade is very different and proven to be much easier. Solid deterrence has proven to be successful on that front all over the world.
The only country that has made real progress is Portugal, but we’ll never see the decriminalization of all drugs here. That would make too much sense. Instead we’ll continue fighting a war that can’t be won, and nothing will really change.
Since it appears trump's shutting down the government didn't work (and only worked against trump), he appears to now be looking at another temper tantrum threat to get his expensive, ineffective vanity wall built...
