Plenty of Marisnicks? He’s one of the 3 best defensive CF on the planet. So no, there are not “plenty of Marisnicks”. There are plenty of 4th OF who can play a good CF but not hit well enough to play everyday. And Houston needs one of those. But unfortunately Kemp cannot play CF, so he would be horribly miscast as a 4th OF in the AL, and especially so in Houston, since neither Reddick nor Brantley can play a serviceable CF.
You can take projections only so far. Altuve was projected to be a AAAA as well. Based on what Kemp did last year, his trajectory is upward.
I agree with your point that Kemp offers value as a cheap player to control for multiple years. Also agree that we will likely try to make room for Tucker, if we don’t trade him. My guess is that Kemp and Reddick are shopped, unless we use Tucker as a trade chip.
That’s actually the real issue with Astros fans analyzing Tony Kemp. They look at 5’5” Altuve, a potential HoF, and think that every undersized player in Houston’s system is badass.

I didn’t say that either. I said he’s unlikely to put up numbers as good as 2018. As I said, his projections point to a slight dropoff. But even if he did it’s not like his 2018 numbers were all that special considering his defensive limitations. 0.9 fWAR over 90 games is not what you hope to get out of an everyday corner OF. It’s what you hope to get out of a AAAA reserve fill in.
There are plenty of Marisnick's, trust me. When Marisnick got hurt in 2017, we picked up defensive specialist Cameron Maybin. By claiming him off of waivers. And we gave the Angels no players. And it's likely that we'll get very little or nothing for Marisnick if we trade him, because teams put almost no value on outfield defensive specialists.
There are not plenty of Marisnick's out there........ He is one of the best defensive centerfielders in decades and that has a lot of value on a team like the Astros, especially with the Astros wanting to get Springer time on the corners.
