Meatheads tend to have the smallest brains ... hence the term. Cultivation of grains and vegetables instead of a nomadic, hunter gatherer existence are what made humans the smart beings they are today. What is the intelligence of the Inuit, who only eat meat?
I'm not asking him, I'm asking you. This is your thread, your the one using the term oppress yourself. You say in order to reduce your footprint you have to oppress yourself by becoming vegan. Now I don't think a vegan diet is oppressive by any means, but with that being said the most effective way to reduce your footprint is to source local food as much as possible. Nothing beats it, a chicken you raised in you or your neighbor's backyard (or a local farm) off of scraps and pasture doesn't compare to banana's that have been shipped from Ecuador and stored in grocery stores. So if you are truly concerned with people reducing their footprint through diet, why not advocate for the most effective path, home gardening, local as much as possible.
"Meh, Jay Z does it too and I worship him. But I don't hold him to the same standard - he's just being real!" https://www.drmcdougall.com/misc/2015nl/apr/eskimos.htm There Is No Eskimo Paradox The human being is designed to thrive on a diet of starches, vegetables and fruits. The Eskimo experience serves as a testament to the miraculous strengths and adaptability of our bodies. We can survive on raw and cooked meat, but we thrive on starches, vegetables and fruits. These hardy people survived living at the edge of the nutritional envelope, but not in good health. Here are some of the health costs they paid: Eskimos Suffer from Atherosclerosis Eskimos Suffer from Severe Bone Loss Eskimos Are Infected with parasites Meat derived chemical pollution The notion that consuming meat, fish, and fish oil will promote health and healing has captured the attention of the scientific community in large part because of the misinterpretation** of the Eskimo experience. But life has gotten worse for the Eskimo. Those days of needing 3100 calories a day to counter the freezing cold and hunt for dinner are gone. The idea that current epidemics of obesity and sickness in these Northern people would be best fixed by returning to the old ways of carnivorous diet would not work unless they also returned to living in igloo homes and hunted their lands for every meal. Physicians and dietitians now caring for these people suffering from the western diet with the addition of too much traditional food (ancestral meat) should be prescribing a starch-based diet to help them lose excess weight and cure common dietary diseases. **Misinterpretation is easy to spread because: 1) People love to hear good news about their bad habits. 2) Nutritional "facts," even when false and harmful, are used to sell meat, fish, and other foods. 3) The media loves headlines that sell their products, like "The Eskimo Diet proves Meat's Good."
I'm confused where you're going with this. Anybody who knows me well enough knows that i'm a health and environmental advocate... hell even anybody who has followed my post on CF just a little bit should know that.
I don't think there is a need for us to all be on vegan diets. That's not the problem - this is a straw man because there isn't a huge push to get people to become vegan to stop climate change. It's fossil fuels that's the main culprit. Livestock doesn't help but methane only has a 7 year half life so there's no major need to declare war on meat eaters.
This is just horrifically untrue. Most of the time we were evolving into humans we did not have access to meat. It wasn't until about a million years ago that butchery marks started appearing on animal bones.
I think the - all people need to become vegan - slogan won't likely work, and that there are ways to personally reduce your carbon footprint without following a vegan diet. - Like home gardening, buying local, better designed and insulated homes, switching to green energy companies or solar etc. That being said it's not right to downplay the meat & dairy industry either. As is in it's current state, it either is... or is very close to being the largest contributing factor to global warming. Deforestation, water, transportation, and preservation on top of the crops(more deforestation, transportation and water) needed to grow and sell 10 billion animals per year is extremely problematic. So while there's no need to declare war on meat eaters in the form of a vegan or nothing slogan, there does need to be a war on the meat & dairy industry as is, and education about meat consumption, and advocating of lowering said meat and dairy consumption is a big positive... until there has been a food revolution to the extent that local farming, home gardening has exploded into the majority of diets. The entire transportation system needs to be turned green, deforestation has to be more or less banned with mass world reforestation, grocery stores have to become VASTLY more efficient, and meat & dairy farming practices to need to be radically reformed before people can safely have the same consumption of meat & dairy in the current systems while being responsible consumers in light of our environment.
Lol, bro, wut? So, in all of what you've brought me...where...where in that post is intelligence brought up? Trying to hide behind science for your racism...For The Loss.
@Cohete Rojo has had this argument shown to be pointless dozens of times, but it feels like he's so in love with what he thought was a real zinger that he keeps pushing it over and over again. The FACTS you presented should shut it down again. It's the 236th thing that should shut it down, but apparently, he's so pleased with himself that he'll keep making it anyway.
Red Meat uses up a lot of land that is true and is a cause of deforestation in other parts of the world. In the US, forest levels have been constant the last 100 years about, with development being the main issue - not agriculture. But yes, cows produce methane and the transport of meat uses a lot of fossil fuels. But if you buy meat locally that should help, and yes, eating less meat will be good for the environment but it doesn't mean we have to become vegan. If people just cut down on the amount of red meat and dairy they ate, it would improve the health of Americas far more than the environmental impact. But yes, everything helps. I'd say focus on the health benefits of less red meat and dairy vs the environmental impacts.
He's mentally backwards - that much is clear. But it is the right wing playbook. "This is all the left's secret plan to turn us into Vegans!" - they know that kind of line will resonate with people and help make meat lovers hate the left by making them believe the left wants to ban meat and dairy.
What happen to the "Koch brothers" conspiracy? This is not what the "Koch brothers" are telling me to do? Watching y'all squirm on this issue brings much joy to my day. What a wonderful Thursday. THANKS!
here's an even better one. Vegan turned hunter realizes how mistaken he was and now he's saving the planet
