On Christmas Day, President Donald Trump took part in a long-running practice of presidents who called troops stationed around the country and the world. But he broke from a recent tradition of actually visiting troops and wounded warriors. He did so in 2017, when he visited wounded troops at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Dec. 21 (and invited Coast Guard service members to play golf at his course in West Palm Beach, Florida). By staying home on Tuesday, Trump became the first president since 2002 who didn't visit military personnel around Christmastime.

    oooops.

    The hate is real.

Then he uses the visit as a backdrop to push for his wall:

Worse... he then outright lies about payraises:

    Oops

President Donald Trump and the White House communications team revealed that a U.S. Navy SEAL team was deployed to Iraq after the president secretly traveled to the region to meet with American forces serving in a combat zone for the first time since being elected to office.

While the commander-in-chief can declassify information, usually the presence of a special operations unit, to include, showing their faces would not be revealed to the American public, especially while the U.S. service members were still deployed. Current and former Defense Department officials told Newsweek that the information is almost always classified and is a violation of operational security.

He would have been widely praised for going... even two years late. But then, he had to turn it into a campaign op for his idiotic wall. Worse, he had to blatantly lie to the troops about pay raises...

Poor Trump. The pain must be horrible while playing all that golf. My heart goes out to him.

I'm sure he was bitterly disappointed when the docs told him he wouldn't be able to serve in the military.

    FORE!!!

The Idiot in Chief makes a fool of himself again. Does he do anything without whining "oh, poor me!" and launching into a bunch of political BS, essentially ignoring the "reason" he's supposed to be there, or anywhere? Hell, he did the same thing with the Boy Scouts, didn't he?

Wait, are you talking about the reports of Trump’s blatant lies to the troupes OR are you talking about you whining about the reports of Trump’s blatant lies to the troupes OR are you talking about Trump’s whining about his vanity wall ?

LOL... so you are the one complaining about trump signing hats... since no one else but you posted that article.

So instead of complaining about your own post, what are your thoughts on trump going all the way to thank troops service to our country and instead making a campaign speech for his wall (and in the process criticizing Democrats for not supporting his wall)? And what is your opinion of trump outright lying to the troops about military pay raises?

I see this story and a bunch of stories such as Trump telling a 7 year old that believing in Santa being marginal to be really one long running story. May be the biggest story of his presidency when you look at it holistically.

That being - this is an old man who has zero sense of what is or is not appropriate because of his own narcissistic disposition.

Turning a trip to the troops into a campaign rally isn’t threatening on its face but the obvious inappropriate nature of it puts into question how he deals with the bigger issues... for example: on a whim while talking on the phone with a dictator like Erdogan he can easily be convinced without question to do something like pull out of Syria and have a whole population of allied troops wiped out because he only sees a narrow version of the reality of the situation in the framing of me, me, me.

What other huge decisions are made in this manner through this line of narcissistic process that could have major implications to the US in our policy that actually affects real life??

Really dumb decision for NBC to run that article - who cares if he isn't there on (or before) Christmas Day - he went the day after BFD.

Really shameful of the military to show respect for a man who shows respect for them.
