I heard today on the usual suspects that Morey has trouble doing business with basically half of the other GMs in the league. Apparently, It’s because of how he has conducted negotiations and how he’s been able to take advantage of other GMs. Is this actually true? Perhaps, that’s why he hasn’t been able to get the wing he’s been looking to get.
I guess Jerry West didn't get the memo when he basically traded Morey a championship last year. And the Lakers didn't get the memo a few months earlier, when they traded Morey a major piece that made the Jerry West trade possible. That Jerry West trade, however, reduced Morey's tradable assets down to key starters and picks.
Issue is this....if morey asks for a player on another team, the GM will have to consider why Daryl Morey wants him. he also has to consider if he makes this trade will you look foolish like all the other GM's have in the past when dealing with Daryl Morey. The Houston Rockets because of Daryl Morey cannot pursue players because of this. We have to wait for a GM to approach us. That's my couch GM impersonation and reasoning
I think this is nonsense. If the deal makes sense to the other team, the deal will be made. Let's face it, the Rockets don't have a lot of players that other teams want right now that the Rockets are willing to trade.
Blacklisted is a strong term. I think it’s a combination that may include teams not wanting to “help” the Rockets, and the fact that our current assets are not desirable. Morey just has to remain patient and hope for the best come by Feb 7th. By then hopefully Knight can up his value and give us a viable asset to move along with picks.
I honestly have a hard time believing that Morey is somehow disliked around the league and thus is unable to make trades. He won EOY last year. I just don’t know how much information these media guys have access to for them to come out and say something like that. I shouldn’t have said blacklisted. What they actually said was that a lot of GMs would rather not gain anything from a potential trade if it meant that they were helping Morey out.
The Usual Suspects is a podcast nowadays? Even after what Kevin Spacey has done? Also, this guy: Spoiler
