Doc was known for his defense so it makes sense the kid hustles, efforts and can be coached up even further by Jeff B. I would bet he’ll get even better
Luc was the Clippers starting 3, they were considered a contender in the beginning of the season, but hampered by injuries both seasons, but still won 50+ games, and weren't they still a 4th seed both years? 14-15 Clippers that lost to the Rockets were a contender, Austin was their 6th man, and that was probably his worst season as a Clipper, so he only got better after. Similarly the two seasons when Luc was there, Austin was somewhere between 5th and 7th on a team that was supposed to be a contender if Griffin was healthy. Of course the goal post has already moved from calling them players languishing in trash situations to whether they were on contenders, but they were neither in trash situations or lacking in production for their talent and role on those Clippers teams.
well, so far looks like we are getting the austin from the clippers vs the wizards. that is a very good thing and he can help us.
After Ariza left, we lose one 3 point shooter. I think Austin is a good replacement. Our team will look like last year level now. The loophole is to find one more 3 point shooter with strong defence in small forward. We can ask our coach to train melo defence and does not let him to shoot more than 5 times per match. Maybe it is win win to us.
If he keeps playing defense as hard as he did today, then he will be a decent addition to the team. Any offense from him is just a bonus.
Dude hit some clutch threes with the game on the line basically walking in with no practice time gotta give him props for that plus he but Westbrook in jail. His new name is Officer Rivers for now on
I’m on the road and won’t have a chance to watch my game tape for a few days. So thanks for the reports on his defense, which is what I care about most. Every guy we add who can switch capably on D and hit 3’s lightens the load on our starters, decreases the risk of injuries (cough, CP hamstrings, cough), and increases our odds of going deep into the playoffs. House and Rivers seem to be two steps in the right direction.
Austin Rivers the basketball player I’ve alwsys Liked. Plays good D, actually wants to guard the best guy. Can handle the rock get to the paint and shoot threes at a pretty decent clip. Austin Rivers the basketball personality? He’s like draymond green in that sense. I just don’t like them at all. But he’s a rocket, he’s a good, actual nba player we’ve just added to our roster and at a major position/time of need. The guys a legit 10-15ppg every game with good D off the bench, nobody should be complaining about that. If we can get to full health, add a legit SF who can hit threes and defend. Rivers might end up being the piece that makes us better and more versatile in a playoff series compared to last season. If we look at things positively Harden Cp3 Gordon Tucker Capela Rivers Ennis House Green Nene Wing? That’s a solid team that actually could be very good on D depending on who Morey can hopefully add. I also think ennis will be a lot better as a bench guy. I think he’ll perform better against second units and smaller shorter bursts of playing time.
A lot of love for his defense today, but man the available defensive numbers on Rivers make Harden look like Kawhi in comparison.
I bet he reads that thread now. I like that he wants to buy his way to the team with effort, son of a coach so he knows team d principles good.
Rivers entered Monday surrendering only 0.778 points per play, according to Synergy Sports, best among the Wizards and in the 88th percentile of the NBA. (Published Dec. 10)
