He looked better than what i expected tbh, maybe watching him in Washington wasn't exactly a good way to make a solid idea about him due to the enviroment (lol) but, yeah, he was pretty good on D against Westbrook, quick feet.

Rockets lack guys that have the confidence to shoot shots. Austin Rivers has more confidence in his game than any role player I have ever seen. Harden needs guys that are about that life.

Let's not get carried away. Each of those guys have had better games than rivers had today. And gordon will catch fire soon and be allstar-like. I was impressed by his showing today though.

There are players like Austin Rivers all over the league just languishing in trash situations. PJ was one of those players. Luc was one of those players. It's always feels like players like Austin Rivers, Bayless, DJ Augustine, are just out of reach for the Rockets..

Rockets never seem to get real role players on the team (last year was the first). It's always 2-way, G-league, overseas players Harden has to drag across the the finish line.

Imagine Harden with a full compliment of players like in Toronto.

PJ had a decent perspective with the Raptors but yup Houston would go deeper into the playoffs.

He could, just do not give CP3 that contract....oops already done!

He got an aging HOFer in CP3, not his fault that he is injury prone and the GM and Fertitta are paying for it.

A normal functioning CP3 is worth 3-5 of those role players, even more. Performancewise, not a chance.

Rivers played solid defense on Westbrook without fouling too much. He also has confidence. He wasnt afraid to join the Rockets despite how the fans felt about him and the crap that went on during tunnel gate.

You can see how he carries himself that he isnt afraid to defend the all star during crunch time. He isnt scared to bring the ball up the court when the game is on the line. He hit a critical free throw to ice the game. These things are critical in pressure situations like the playoffs. We lost experience and mental toughness with Ariza. This helps get some of that back.

I think he earned some respect from the fans and his teamates today. We will see how it plays out, but he buys Harden some time to rest and CP3 some time to heal. He also glues MCW to the bench. If Rivers accomplishes those things he is a success. I'm hoping for an even greater impact than that though. I think the guy can ball.

Yep. DanTony has to rest CP3 and Harden to prevent injuries. No more back to backs and limited minutes are crucial for CP3. Maybe he will trust Rivers enough to actually do it.

As long as CP3 is healthy when it matters, Rockets are a solid wing player away from being as good as last years squad. Rivers looked solid on D and if he can shoot at least 35% from 3, he should be pretty productive and valuable. Ennis would be solid off the bench too, but clearly we are missing a starting 3&D wing. KCP sounds like a decent option but the ideal fit would be someone with more size and length...

I think of the diversity of line ups

Today we had EGO-Green-Rivers in for extended minutes

    Once CP3 is back
Combos of: Harden CP3 EGO Rivers Green House will be good

    Rocket River

i originally said no because of how much of an entitled punk he presents himself to be. however, it is nice having an actual nba player out there. his versatility fits in well and his ability to create offense for himself and others is actually a big addition with or without paul in the lineup.

personality issues aside i like the move. just hard to root for him.

Luc? Luc did great with the Clippers. Austin also was good with the Clippers, but struggled in the Washington situation that's still a struggling situation.

lol. They did alright. Never once were Luc or Austin considered integral parts of any contending team.
