    Lol
They are keeping Trae Young over Lin
There is a pattern where Lin is demoted or traded for every team he joins
Hell they picked another point guard after they traded Lin. The nets knew what they were doing

Yes, they are likely to keep Trae over almost anybody else at this point. But if he doesn't show a trajectory of significant improvement after 2 seasons, do you think they will stay with him? LA parted with D'Angelo Russell even tho they were committed to going with him when they drafted him. If Lin is still on the roster at the point where it's obvious Trae isn't working out, you don't think Lin would have an opportunity to lead the team for a year or two?

Traded by the Rockets and Nets. Demoted by the Rockets. GSW did not trade or demote him. Knicks did not trade or demote him (in fact, they promoted him from end-of-the-bench to starter). Lakers did not trade or demote him (he was rostered as a backup). Charlotte did not trade or demote him (he was rostered as a backup). Nets did not demote him (he was a starter when he was healthy). Hawks did not trade or demote him (he was rostered as a backup). What is the pattern?

Huh...so they didn't add any new players? And young players didn't develop? Randy Foye, Sean Kilpatrick, and Trevor Booker are still starters there?

    The warriors thought he sucked
The Knicks didn’t want to match the rockets offer
The nets knew it was a mistake to keep him so they traded him
The nets signed Napier a point guard for two years after dumping Lin

    https://www.netsdaily.com/2018/11/26/18112708/shabazz-napier-filling-in-nicely-for-nets

The pattern is every Lin fan can’t handle the truth

The Warriors were right at the time...Lin had not emerged yet as a player.
The Knicks didn't match a poison pill contract that would have bumped them into the luxury tax. This is not being demoted or being traded.
The Nets moved him because his serious injury raised uncertainty regarding his contract value. Not really related to his skills and abilities as a basketball player in general.
The Nets signed a 3rd string PG at 1/7th the contract price for insurance.

Again, if you are asserting that Lin's health makes him unreliable to be a starter, you can certainly make a relatively good case about that. But if you are talking about his skills and what he has brought to teams before his injury issues started with the Nets, then you have less to stand on.

You said there was a pattern of demotions and trades over Lin's career. There isn't one. He's been demoted once and traded twice in 9 years. That is not a pattern.

You can paint your Lin portrait of never his fault or that’s he’s never wrong

But nobody is buying that ugly piece of stick figure art work that belongs in the trash

When did I ever say he was never at fault or that he’s never wrong?

And what art work are you referring to? I have no idea what you are talking about.

Didn't I say above that GSW were right to cut him loose because he hadn't emerged as a quality player? And I've acknowledged his mistakes in the playoffs vs. Portland many times. Maybe you are projecting LOF viewpoints on me? I have told you many times that I am not a LOF, so it is unfair for you to project their opinions on me.

The difference between you and me is that I am more than willing to acknowledge Lin's mistakes and shortcomings, while you have no willingness whatsoever to acknowledge any of the good things he's done. For me, Lin has been an underdog in the NBA who has the talent to be a meaningful contributor to his teams if given a fair shot (starter or not)...and in the right system, he has the ability to be a quality starter on a quality (playoff) team.

You only want a best case scenario where Lin reaches the success and popularity of that short winning streak called Linsanity
    And I care about basketball

How about the fact that you have been an insufferable ******* about this for years. Spending countless hours talking about a millionaire, Harvard graduate in Economics, NBA player. That compiled collective stats that had never (I'm not sure if they have since then) been achieved in the Ivy league. An Asian American male athletic role model that does not have a lot of role models in the main American sports. Spouting off crap about being a 99'er. It's absolutely pathetic. You can say WHATEVER you want to say. It is simply pathetic.

Once and for all find a new schtick. You continue to relish in bringing up when you joined this forum. Have been coming here for 20 years. Well then make it a better place. If you think talking negatively about a player for years on end makes this place better.

Have a great New Year. Be better man.

No doubt I want Lin to get a fair shot at reaching his potential...doing so would lift up many people who have been underdogs, whether it be because of circumstance or race or whatever. But as much as i want it to be a fair shot, I also want him to earn it...no free lunches. And yes, at the end of the day, I care about great basketball, too. Again, I’m willing to acknowledge his flaws, while you are unwilling to acknowledge his strengths and successes.

His strengths are that he can attack the basket and that he can work a pick and roll
His weaknesses is that his decision making and game situation awareness are average to bad and that he is not durable.
He already reached his potential that’s why he’s still in the league

He can’t succeed as the feature player of a team that’s why he’s always coming off the bench.

He has issues with playing with stronger personalities , Kobe is a prime example

You forget the main reason for clutchfans is for Rockets fans
And the dish is for rockets fans to talk amongst theme selves about other topics
Not about cult non rockets fans joining the board to react only to opinions that counter their belief about their hero

This is the same as McGrady fans refusing to acknowledge his failures but on another level

Yes a Lin only fan refuses to believe the nets have a better record without him
By trading him away for a bag of Cheetos the nets are showcasing their talent at the guard position this year

You've described him as he was with the Rockets. Makes sense, as you've probably not watched him much since then. His shooting has gotten better. His defending has gotten better. His decision-making has gotten better. All of these things were obvious during his time with Charlotte, and you could see these things in the few games he was able to play with the Nets. But even without these things, him as a player as you've described above makes him better than "he sucks" as you've ranted about for years.

Arguable whether he's reached his potential. At his age, probably yes.

He was successful as the feature player with the Knicks. He has since not had the same opportunity to be the feature player. My position is the same as D'Antoni's...in the right system (like he was in in NY), he can be spectacular. In other systems, he can be competent. His career after the Knicks has shown this to be true.

Definitely has issues with stronger personalities...Kobe, Melo...but largely because he preaches team basketball while these players want individual their individual glory.

All of his coaches (other than Byron Scott) have praised his work ethic, effort, desire to succeed. Clifford, Atkinson, Pierce, and D'Antoni like his leadership and decision-making. Clifford praised his defense, Pierce calls him his "stabilizer". Even McHale commented after Lin joined the Nets that Lin had become a much better player than he was in Houston.

And only a hater believes that the Nets are better now only because Lin was injured or left the team. They do not acknowledge the improvement in the roster the Nets have made (adding Carroll, Crabbe, Allen, etc) and the improvement of others (Harris, Dinwiddie, Russell, LeVert). The idea that the Nets improved only because Lin was out for a season or traded is ridiculous.

And yes, Nets had a lot of young quality guards, which made it make sense to trade away the veteran who was coming back from serious injury. The idea that it was because he wasn't talented enough is ridiculous. Like I said...if you want to make a case that Lin is not durable enough, I can't make a case against that. But when healthy, Lin is proven to be an NBA-quality PG and doesn't "suck" as you've ranted on for all these years.

Why did they trade him then ?
Are the nets a worse team at point guard now ?
Are the nets a worse team than last year ?

Is lin a starter or bench player in the nba ?

Don’t forget he got traded for second round picks
    http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/24081908/jeremy-lin-traded-brooklyn-nets-atlanta-hawks

Atlanta is sending Brooklyn a 2020 second-round pick via Portland and the rights to Isaia Cordinier, league sources said. Cordinier is a 2016 second-round pick who has remained overseas.
