This might be one of those cases where you can get them to take Reddick and eat some cash. It would be interesting to see what AZ would want, prospect-wise.
Well, the Astros hot stove has been ice cold the last several days. Hope it gets warmed up right after Christmas!
Does anyone think that 5 or 6 year offer will surface for DK? Looks like it hasn’t so far. I think he’ll have to settle on a 4 year deal...only question is where. My gut says WAS or MIL, but I’m still hoping for a return to HOU.
Even if we gave Keuchel 4 years at 80 mil, that would pretty much max out our budget and make it extremely difficult to extend budget for more important players in the upcoming years. Keuchel is rusty. Pass.
I would be shocked if a 6 year offer comes his way. I think he's gonna get a 4 year deal, but 5 wouldn't shock me. I think he will be around 4/70 or 5/80. If someone offers him 100 million...that's a mistake. I am curious at what financial level we would be interested in retaining him. With LMJ and Morton now off the table, his services don't seem nearly as superfluous. I don't see any way it happens though, somebody will certainly offer more
I’d take him back at his QO, but that’s about as far as I would go. I think Greinke has more upside, if AZ eats a lot of the contract.
I would guess Keuchel gets 4 years with maybe a 5th year team or vested option. Boras may also get creative with the opt outs and incentives.
The Diamondbacks view taking Reddick as eating $26,000,000. That is part of why the Astros were so aggressive offering Reddick, hoping they could clear his $26,000,000 deal and have the Diamondbacks increase the amount they would eat. No one would take Reddick without giving back another bad contract or the Astros eating some.
Here’s what I’m thinking: Sign Cruz: 2 years, 24 mil Trade White, Kemp, Stassi, Martin and Bukauskas for Realmuto and cash Trade Reddick, Armenteros, Perez, Reed and Nova for Greinke, Archie Bradley and 30 million dollars. As far as budget goes for this season, we’d be chopping off 13 mil in Reddick, adding 6.2 in Realmuto, adding 12 mil in Cruz, adding 1 mil in Bradley and adding 24 mil in Greinke. Small loses also from the rest. Should put us just around 206 mil. My only complaint would be no budget available for mid-season acquisitions. But we could always make moves to cut cost. Also, very little holes anywhere. CF Springer LF Brantley 2B Altuve 3B Bregman DH Cruz SS Correa C Realmuto 1B Gurriel RF Tucker or Straw (ST battle) BN Marisnick, Chirinos, Diaz SP Verlander SP Cole SP Greinke SP McHugh SP James RP Osuna RP Bradley RP Pressly RP Devenski RP Harris RP Valdez RP Peacock RP Rondon
I’d rather he become a Dodger than Realmuto. Personal sentiment, since Mr Twitter doesn’t testify on his behalf.
Which part or parts of the deal do you think the Marlins would reject? I think the value on White and Kemp—2 players that showed breakout skills at the MLB level—is high. I also think the Marlins expectations are starting to come down to reality. The longer they wait, the less haul they are going to get. More teams will fill their needs elsewhere.
If you do the Grineke deal you would want that 30m spread over the last two years of Grienkes co teach not the first it would entice the Diamondbacks aswell
