    Talking about not reading....

Moreover, if the goal is to target “hard” drugs, spending resources between ports of entry would also be less effective than at ports of entry. Excluding interior checkpoints, Border Patrol agents between ports of entry accounted for just 8 percent of hard drug seizures by value in 2018.

    Other Drug Smuggling
Mexican drug cartels have responded to their declining share of the mar1juana market by smuggling other drugs through ports of entry but have failed to make up for the decline in mar1juana smuggling. Most drugs other than mar1juana are smuggled through ports of entry because traffickers can more easily conceal them.

Given the focus of the political debate, it is important to note that drugs other than mar1juana are almost entirely seized at ports of entry (Table 2). By value, CBP seized 87 percent of all hard drugs at ports of entry, not between ports of entry, in 2018. Stated another way, the hard drugs seized at ports of entry were seven times more valuable than those seized between ports of entry.

This fact becomes even more pronounced when considering that about half of all Border Patrol seizures of hard drugs in 2018 came at checkpoints in the interior of the United States.64 Drugs seized at checkpoints are already moving within the United States, primarily on major highways, where a border wall could do nothing. About two-thirds of Border Patrol seizures of heroin and meth and one-third of its seizures of fentanyl and cocaine came at checkpoints from April to August 2018 — the only months that the agency has published data on checkpoint seizures. Separating out these seizures reveals that hard drugs seized at ports of entry were 11 times more valuable than those seized between ports of entry or those seized at interior checkpoints from April to August 2018 — just 7 percent of the value of the non-mar1juana seizures by OFO and Border Patrol occurred between ports of entry (Figure 7).

I see that you are still stuck to the idea of a lack of a Trump wall for reason of skyrocketed drug overdose, even after it has been pointed out why you are wrong. Strange.

Some people are easier to scam than others. That being said, it is wrong to blame the victims of scams. The fault is always with the person operating the scam. Though everyone should try and not make it easy for the scammers.

Why are we shutting down the government when Mexico is paying for the wall and buying 5 million copies of The Art of the Deal?

Manned borders are what is effective, not so much a wall. A wall is worthless without security.

Gee, how did those drugs get there, on the highways inside the United States, past the border entries?

By the way, you definitely did not read the article. Here is the conclusion:

    I can't...I just can't.

Yes, I did read the article.

And is you position that illegal immigration can be stopped by "legalizing migration"? What does that even mean?

It's funny that people want to build a wall to keep drugs and other crime out when there is a good deal of evidence that the US government helped start and spread the drug trade from Mexico and Central America.

This country needs to get back to a Monroe Doctrine of sorts and start worrying more about what's going on within its borders and the failure of the government and its duties to the American people.

    I’m sure you did.

Trump wall is ineffective at stopping drugs moving across the borders. That was the discussion until you changed the topic.

I don’t even take your love for the wall as you believing that it would stop all drug movement. So I find it’s a projection that you think a policy such as temp work program for migrants means that it would stop illegal immigration. It certainly would reduce illegal immigration but no one think it would stop it.

Why not take down the existing 700 miles of wall? What makes those 700 miles so much different than what Trump wants to upgrade and add?

Here is one area that could use a wall:

McConnell doesn't want to use the "nuclear option." Why? In two years, he'll be the minority leader of the Senate. What goes around comes around, and he knows it. He's asked for a hell of a lot of trouble already and he will get it. Going the route trump wants them to take would be a disaster of biblical proportions for the GOP.
