Unfortunately we had to give him a max contract so he has to be able to eat minutes up because we have no depth. Max players should be out there every night for 33+ minutes!
What does it matter if you don't win the championship. First round, second round, whatever, what difference does it make?
what does it matter? umm for the fact that one has a real chance at winning it as we have just seen. and the other does not. a rockets team made up of those players had no shot
I'd have been fine with acquiring a decent scoring guard. There are some out there. Instead, Morey decided to go with an outdated point guard that's made of glass. (I don't care what happened last year because they still didn't win a ring because of that constant flaw; don't use that as an excuse, guys). Committing to Chris Paul of all people long-term was a huge mistake and might end up wasting Harden's prime.
Are you saying that Chris Paul in his present old wore out injury prone, past his prime condition is worth more than Beverley, Harrell, Decker, Williams, and a 1st round draft pick put together? And that on top of that it was a good idea to spend $160 million to retain his unreliable services for the next 4 years?
. I agree completely. We used to have a deep bench. I'm pretty sure we Pauls huge salary and Clints big pay raise have limited our negotiating power, thanks to Morey. Is take a young 20 mill guard and a young 20 million forward over Paul, but that's just me, and I certainly don't care if you or anyone else agrees.
if hes on the court, his ceiling is easily higher than any of them. going back to hindsight once again. after the season the rockets just had, he comes back every time. A better maintenance plan is probably where the rockets dropped the ball.
i mean coming into the year, people on this board thought this team was super deep and better than a year ago. Even though they acquired a bench of min players. Excited over the acquisitions of mcw and melo and unproven ennis as if they would just jump right in without any issues and fit. just puzzling. Their negotiating power can be seen with this mle that they have not even bothered to touch. they've been sitting on it and for what. its obvious they didn't want to spend it
I'd have been tempted to make that offer to get Labron or KD but not CP3. He has never shown evidence of bringing us a championship. Remember what we did to him when he was with LAC? I still don't think he has recovered from that.
Not everyone liked the Paul signing. I hated it. I knew he couldn't stay healthy, and it was a stupid 40 million risk. If he is a part-time player that is how you should pay him.
he just showed plenty of evidence that he was capable of helping bring houston a championship. no idea where you're getting that from. KD and Lebron were in no way realistic possibilities
then that's just you. doesn't make you right trying to pat yourself on the back. if you hated it so much, you must of been miserable a few months ago
and that means what exactly when they had no realistic shot of being here paul george is signed for the same money as harden. your logic says he should be a rocket
It's totally reasonable to be troubled by Paul's injury history. What bothers me is the constant bombardment. It's not this one thing. It's the "chicken little" approach to fandom that I'm responding to. Almost every team almost every year is going to have some terrible and embarrassing losses and many good-to-great teams will have serious slumps. What makes those teams great is how they respond to adversity. The Rockets have responded to terrible adversity with aplomb and it's still nothing but complaints. I just wish the posts were tempered by the surrounding factors. 538's great story about how last year we game planned to beat the Warriors and this year everyone game planned against us, working to beat us at our own game, should be factored into our difficulties this year. This year so many teams worked to play like the Rockets did last year and to stop the Rockets from succeeding in the ways we did last year. When something like that happens a setback is almost inevitable and requires a significant change of strategy. But D'Antoni and company made major adjustments and in the admittedly short time since then we've been upper echelon. We just had a very encouraging five game winning streak as a result of those adjustments and then we have a 2 point loss and the whole board is up in arms. To me that's not being a fan. That's just wanting to find anything and everything to tear down a team that's been playing their asses off. That's what bothers me.
