He sure has to get creative now otherwise we can rightfully say he has been coasting this season as the manager.

No we can’t. Do you honestly believe Morey isn’t working his ass off trying to figure out some sort of viable path forward? The dude is a relentless workaholic. That said, his task is almost impossibly difficult.

Like I said, we made our bed when we decided to trade for CP3 in the first place, a trade that led us to 65 wins and one win away from a title (in all likelihood).

We took a calculated risk when we decided to make that trade. Unfortunately this is the price you pay when you acquire a superstar.

CP3 is almost certainly not going to be with the team for anywhere from 3 weeks to 3 months. I don't want to get into an argument about how much he means to the team or how overpaid he is because what is done can't be undone. I am more concerned with Harden. He is the team. That knee he took to the head last night looked bad to me. Knowing Harden, he will continue to want to play 40 minutes plus. At the very least they need to get that looked at as possible concussion. In the meantime assuming he is okay, somebody on the team needs to step up and give him some help.

Nope. He can’t. That’s been obvious to everybody except Morey, who decided MCW and Brandon Knight were adequate backups for a player who we knew couldn’t get through a full season.

Those that are blaming Morey for the CP3 trade and signing, the move is 1 you make 100 times out of 100. Bev + Montrezl weren’t getting you to game 7 against the GSW. This revisionist history is absurd. People forget that Bev wanted out and to get paid.

This is why you don’t trade 4 1st rounders. Lie in the bed you made and see what you can do with what assets you do have outside of picks.

Just out of curiousity when exactly did it become clear this year was fools gold? When would you have hit the reset button? During the summer? A month ago? Yesterday?

Harden is the reigning MVP and he’s at his absolute prime right now. With that said he’ll also be 30 this summer. He has 2 maybe 3 years left of his prime before he inevitably shows decline as well. There was/is ZERO chance of a rebuild process with Harden on the roster.

Pretty much spot on this @Nook post.

The Rockets have Harden and CP and run them into the ground. The ENTIRE offense is built around a "single" engine that runs 48 minutes a game. And what happens when one of those engines is on the block? Disaster. Aka 0-5 without Paul.

It baffles me why Morey does not have a proper backup plan on the roster to run the offense. To give CP a few maintenance nights off.

We KNOW CP is an injury risk. Yet nothing is done. I mean, it doesn't even have to be big. Just something at the margins. A replacement level player.

Trades are tough now because everyone is in contention for the playoffs. But things could have been done over the summer. Nook hit on a perfect example in Parker who could have been had with the T-MLE. Heck, Parker even has a TEAM OPTION on his 2nd year with the Hornets. Something that Morey would have loved.

The Rockets FINALLY got back into the top 8 seeds. And now we are starting at a TOUGH road without CP. And without a suitable backup.

I am a BIG Morey fan and give him the benefit of the doubt when I can. But that said, he is testing my patience with this one issue.

Merely working his arse off (calling other GMs for trades) does not entail success.

As I said a while back, the team is at crossroads, yes, they have the talent to go the WCF again but that talent is mostly brittle and made of glass.

Harden prolly dun know what tanking for a pick is, so this is also not much of an option.

But you have to think about a rebuild soon. You have to get in younger and talented players, preferably rookie and sophomore contracts.

Initial thinking is he will be out for 6-8weeks with a grade 3 hamstring tear.

The Chris Paul signing was not bad.
(Not getting a suitable back up was the problem)

Not re-signing Ariza and Luc was not bad.
(Not getting a suitable replacement was the problem)

The moves at the margins matter. Even more so if you can't hit a home run trade.

CP is here to augment Harden's game. We need a backup PG to help augment CP's game via optimizing him.

Not legit. The MRI isn't even done yet. PV is just guessing. He might end up "guessing right" but he is guessing. This report is hogwash.

First, you are starting from a wrong premise. To be a superstar you have to be in the right physical conditions to prove it. Unfortunately, Paul can not stay on the court. Paul's contract is a huge mistake. Mistake that we will pay for years.
You are also wrong to mention arguments that I did not express, such as Morey "treating players like assets." My friend, you must learn to argue correctly.
    Have a good day...

I mean the Phoenix Suns training staff took an older injury prone Tyson Chandler and a number of other players and revitalized their careers for a while.
