No QB. That’s the difference. You cannot win anymore in tgis league without a QB playing at least at an above average level.
Correct. There is the BOB before Watson... and then there is BOB after Watson. Even the before holds up ok. Wait till we see the next 10 years with an actual QB looking back. Texans have a lot of assets to invest in OL this offseason to continue the build on offense. The weapons are all amost there. TEs will be better year 2. D. Thomas a full year in system. Get Fuller back and RB is a need as well. Next year the offense could be deadly. We do what we can for now. On defense they have been drafting very well.
Because had no other options. Good QBs don’t grow on trees. Unless you are in position to draft one, you have to do stop gaps. The one time they were in position to draft one 2014, they chose Clowney over Blake Bortles (smart move) and they were blocked from drafting Derrick Carr in the 2nd by Bob McNair (Carr has regressed...though).
No other options is an exaggeration. 2014 was when Garoppolo was drafted, O'Brien chose XSF instead and used a pick on a QB as well (Savage). Also, can you explain replacing Fitzpatrick and Keenum with Hoyer and Mallet? Forgivable to pass on Garopoolo, but don't make things worse by finding the worst placeholder QBs. Nick Foles was also traded in 2015.
Bill O'Brien's time as head coach of the Houston Texans summed up: His record with Deshaun Watson as the starter is 13-7 He's had a winning season in four of his five seasons as head coach Texans winning seasons in the 11 years before Bill O'Brien? 3. Texans winning seasons in the 5 years with Bill O'Brien? 4 He will have won the division and made the playoffs in three of his five season He's done all of that with 15 QBs taking snaps during regular season and playoff games But please, go on about how he's a "bad coach" and his "play calling sucks" oh masterful football experts. The object of the game is to win, and he's done that regularly and at a faster clip than most coaches in the league, much less in Texans' history. ... but... "Oh, he's been terrible in the playoffs!" No one can win a playoff game when the starting QB is 15 of 34 for a 44.1% completion percentage, with 136 passing yards and 4 interceptions - which is a 14.9 QBR (Hoyer) He nearly pulled off a massive upset in Foxborough with Osweiler throwing 3 INTs and amassing a historically great 11.1 QBR Get real, people. This team would have been a dumpster fire the last five years without one of the best QB coaches in the game... why Houston fans can't see what the rest of the NFL does, is beyond me.
I know it's hindsight, but it's not the first time BOB started calling timeouts with 5 min left on the clock. Does anyone else think it was too early? Shouldn't we wait until the clock is closer to 3 minutes?
There goes first round bye courtesy of no balls BoB. Enjoy more heart break in playoffs under this man
The Texans are what most of us thought they were. An average to below-average team riding a windfall of fortune and opportunity. The chance for redemption still waits in the post-season, but jeez does it look bleak.
