How much would he cost? In terms of assets. He is more of a 2 than 3 but he would upgrade our bench. He could be a potential replacement for EG if he gets moved.

only reason he could be a potential replacement for EG right now is because EG has been so atrocious offensively...if EG was playing to his usual standards, then EG to KCP is a HUGE downgrade

shrug, KCP isn’t anything special to me...can hit a 3, runs the floor, and plays with energy defensively although I don’t think his defense is anything worthy of praise

I think what you just described is about the best we can hope for. Not sure what else your expecting to come up, but all we are likely working with is Brandon Knight and a 1st, I'm expecting guys like KCP, Shumpert, Alec Burkes, Jr.Smith, Justin Holiday etc - expiring bench role player wings who will bring some energy and hit some 3's.

 

I don’t want to give up a 1st for any of the players u mentioned tbh...I don’t think we’re in a position where we can be giving up any 1st round picks unless the player we’re getting back is the equivalent of a good starter at worst...maybe if the pick is HEAVILY protected, but still, that would be 1 less asset we could use for a real difference maker if we’re giving it away for the likes of KCP

 

The 1st isn't necessarily for any of those players, it's almost entirely to dump Knights contract. Those players are just fillers who may be able to help us.

We can't expect to get a player worth a 1st round pick and dump Knight at the same time. It's one or the other, and our luxury tax situation will be insane next season if we don't get rid of Knights salary.

Rockets add a 2nd, maybe a first if this Bonga kid is legit. If they like Chriss toss him in instead of Ennis. Who says no? GM LeBron wants Melo in LA.

I hardly see KCP as the solution in the starting lineup though as he is wildly inconsistent on the offensive end and doesn't give too much effort defensively.

 

Thing is, Lakers supposedly don’t want to add salary. So all this KCP business....I don’t know.

 

I suppose that's why it would be a 3 team deal like the one we were exploring with LA getting Ariza. Who knows if we can still make it work.

When Ingram and Rondo come back that makes KCP probably the 9th guy with Lance Stephenson at 10. It sounds like LeBron wants to add his pal Melo or at least another veteran guy, some that would squeeze KCP's minutes even further. I'm sure they are open to trading their 10th guy and they probably knew they weren't gonna keep him beyond the season with that 1 year over pay contract anyway.

 

We should give it time. What if Brandon Knight ends up producing and giving us the exact same production we are looking to trade for from KCP or any other role player in his tier. Knights been out of basketball for 2 years, but a 17PPG career average is nothing to scoff at. I say we hold on to him and our 1st round pick, at least till February.

 

KCP would be a nice addition. If we are not giving up anyone from the main 5 it's a steal.
