Why we still allow months of lame duck periods is beyond me, especially now that the GOP is actively trying to set democracy on fire.

It made sense, back when we had people traveling by horse and buggy. Assembling transitions took months.

It doesn't take that long now.

This is a fair point. Giving a defeated party the ability to scorch the earth is silly.

Incredible. It is one of the most blatant attempts to subvert democracy in this country in quite a while. I don't see how these actions could possibly pass review by the courts. It's quite obviously an effort to overturn the legal results of the election. Elections have consequences. The voters knew who and what they were voting for, and the lame duck legislature is attempting to thwart the will of the voters of that state.

It isn't "silly." It is incredibly dangerous, if allowed.

Perhaps your tribal support of the assault on democracy would be a bit more compelling with an example or two of Democrats actually doing this whataboutism...

nonsense. I just think that there are sore losers in politics just as there are in other social realms. And it's not a very good look in general.

don't worry Democrats. New Jersey Dems are trying a similar gambit and will likely beat Republicans at politics.

Do you not understand why people are upset about Wisconsin?

If the Republicans in Wisconsin had wanted to neuter the Governor's office via a constitutional ammendment ballot measure, I'd have been just fine with that.

Maybe you need to think a little bit more about Wisconsin. I'm guessing you think all the squawking is just sour grapes bu Dems pissed they didnt think of it first, completely divorced from any fundamental principals about representative government.

Late in the Roman Republic during really close votes politicians used to have thugs go around to some of their opponents houses on the day of the vote to keep the opponents from showing up and give the vote a little nudge. You cool with bringing that practice back?

Democrat legislators across the country should take note and change laws to limit Republicans powers as much as possible. Also they should make it that they can hold on to power by changing voter laws to make sure a Republican can never win.

Do they have a choice at this point? If Dems don’t employ some of the same tactics to counter how much will their disadvantage subvert Democracy? It’s one of the biggest questions I have at the moment in our politics. Do the Democrats even have a choice anymore but to play the same dirty tricks?

No, what you meant to say that Democrats suck at corruption, while republicans excel at, and win through corruption.
