Well that would be something. Cheaper than Harper, by far, as well.

This article is based on us shipping Reddick.

    It would like more like:
    CF Springer
    3B Bregman
    2B Altuve
    SS Correa
    DH Cruz
    LF Brantley
    1B Gurriel
    RF Tucker
    C Chirinos

If we’re playing the crazy hypothetical “trade Correa game,” I’ll throw my nomination out there:

Correa and Kyle Tucker for Trout

Or Correa, Tucker, and Yordan Alvarez for Trout and Ohtani

If you add Brantley and Cruz . They talked about looking to move Reddick in that article.
Honestly I would look into Wislon Ramos aswell

What about Yuli Gurriel and a prospect for Jon Gray of the Rockies.

The Nicholas Castellanos and Micheal Fulmer to the Astros for a prospect package
Sign Brantley and Ramos and Cruz

    1.Springer
    2.Altuve
    3.Bregman
    4.Brantley
    5.Castellanos
    6.Cruz
    7.Correa
    8.Ramos
    9.Reddick

IMO, that’s a serious downgrade from Yuli.

I doubt Colorado trades an arm talented pitcher under control for 3 years for an average first baseman making 10 million next year and a "prospect" unless that prospect is one of our 4 top 100 guys. I also don't think the Astros would be that interested in him.

From what I've heard there are serious concerns with Ramos' long term health and ability to hold up an entire season. I don't think the Astros will pay the price for him. Castellanos is a butcher in the outfield and viewed as a back up option if nothing else comes together. The problem with Cruz is the Astros would like someone that can play a position as well as DH and Cruz can't do that. Brantley makes some sense and especially since he is willing to play some 1B and outfield.

I do not see how the Astros can get out from the Reddick contract. They would have to include a top 10 prospect from their system and then some just to get rid of him and not many teams want to take on 26 million bucks for prospects.

13 mil per year isn’t a ton for a quality OF. Absolutely disagree on it taking a top 10 prospect to move him.

Right. People are talking about giving $60M+ to Michael Brantley and all of a sudden Reddick isn’t worth $26M/2yr? He might not have any surplus value but I bet Houston could find a taker. At worst they’d include a 3rd tier prospect with him (somebody like Brandon Bailey).

Reddick is coming off the worst season of his career.

Teams aren't trading for Josh Reddick for 13 million dollars a year and 2 years without a tasty prospect. If Reddick was a free agent he would not be getting anywhere near 2/26 million. He would probably get a one year deal similar to Carlos Gonzalez. Derek Dietrich was a better hitter last year than Reddick.

You either eat half his salary and give up a lower level prospect or you give up a higher prospect. Paying Reddick 6.5 million to play elsewhere makes no sense considering we already have a possible need for a corner outfielder. That means a higher prospect would be requried to get someone to eat the majority of that contract.

You’re not talking about a 38 year old defensive liability. This is a above average hitter that is a near-elite defender.

You can add to all that he is lefty with a good arm. We need both these qualities. Yea, his bat was mostly missing in 2018. I expect a marginal to moderate recovery there. Nothing great. But a bit more solid in 2019. Just my gut here.

We certainly have other areas in need of greater attention than RF. We could do better, I admit. But we got bigger weaknesses than this.

Above average hitter? His OPS+ last year was 99.... that is about as average as it gets.

CarGo is a pretty good comparison at the plate at this point in their careers. They are about a year apart in age. CarGo also put up a 99 OPS+ last year. Cargo was better in BA, OBP, and OPS. However, Reddick is a better fielder.

If CarGo gets anything near 2/26 million you win.

I don’t advocate trading Reddick; he’s a good clubhouse fit and his stock is down. I just think his value is fairly close to his contract. And I don’t believe Rosenthals report that Houston has tried hard to move him.

I know for a fact the Astros love Abreu. We finished second in the bidding for him when he came from Cuba. We have tried to trade for him for three seasons.

Having said that, he is a poor fielder, terrible running the bases and will likely make 18-19 million next season and then is a free agent. He just isn’t really worth that much under those conditions.

The Astros have tried to move Reddick. I don’t about “hard” but his name has come up this winter.

If starting pitching is too expensive right now, then go and improve where the market isn’t as crazy.

This is just my opinion but if the Astros add Cruz, then White is being dealt and if Brantley is added; then the Astros could be considering moving Tucker for a starting pitcher. Nothing I have heard... just my opinion.
