Shake up their roster? Make a playoff push?(LOL) I don't know. Ariza, Rivers & Oubre(RFA) are all expiring. Unless they unloaded Porter, probably weren't gonna keep Oubre.
Makes sense since the Suns have Josh Jackson and Bridges, i wonder what's the value for Oubre, considering the trade Washington agreed to do, probably not much, now Phoenix can't even package him and everyone knows they basically have to trade him.
http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/25540285/washington-wizards-trading-trevor-ariza-phoenix-suns Once that [3-team] deal fell apart, the Suns re-engaged with the Los Angeles Lakers on trade talks for Ariza, league sources said. Suns owner Robert Sarver and interim general manager James Jones were working with Ariza's agent, Aaron Mintz, on brokering a deal with the Lakers, but it never materialized. The Lakers were unwilling to include one of their core young players in the trade, and the Suns ultimately moved back to complete a deal with the Wizards. Ariza returns to the Wizards, where the organization sees him as an important addition to a fractured locker room -- and a teammate that All-Star point guard John Wall deeply respects. The Wizards were among Ariza's top-tier free-agent considerations in July, but Phoenix's one-year, $15 million offer was too irresistible of a financial score. In the end, Ariza gets out of the reeling Suns organization and back to a playoff contender in the East. Ultimately, the Wizards believe they have a better chance at affording Ariza on a new deal this summer than Oubre, who will be out of their price range with three max contracts already on the roster.
Does this give the Wizards flexibility to move Otto Porter, knowing they have Ariza to fill his spot? The Wizards are still over the luxury tax line by $8.6 million.
ariza isn't going to fill porter's spot. wash is going to play ariza and him together once otto comes back from injury
Wow, the Wizards are so insanely dumb. Insanely dumb. Who the F cares what the Wizards in achieve in the middle of the Eastern conference this season? At least get a second rounder for Oubre and just f'in keep Rivers' expiring. How incompetent are these people? Unless they now trade Ariza for an expiring and a pick, they just screwed up the possibility of getting even a couple of second rounders to help them dump one of the contracts they were trying to dump.
Yep, and i don't even think Ariza is a lock to resign there, not sure why Washington think they have a better shot to retain Trevor with no bird rights and only the tax MLE available (unless they make moves), and regardless of what they can offer, he can do whatever he wants. On the other hand they had control over Oubre and imo he wasn't going to get a big contract...i guess they are confident about locking Trevor after this season, or maybe it's just another Washington wizardry...lol.
Adrian Wojnarowski on Trevor Ariza: "Washington was one of his top choices this summer in free agency. Phoenix came in and blew everyone away in the marketplace when they offered him $15 million. So Ariza gets his $15 million and is out of there before Christmas. Now he's in a comfortable situation"
Yes Seems like Oubre's value is much lower than 1st + 2nd (especially if the 1st is good on paper), he just got traded for Ariza expiring...and now everyone knows Phoenix has basically no reason to keep him. Also, they can't put him in a package now, they have to trade him straight up for another player so, all things considered he should lose a bit of value if anything.
According to experts in the GARM it didn't matter if Houston was on his list in the summer because the owner was too cheap to overpay to bring him back.
