This is a cool idea! NBA free agency and trade deadlines are so massive in comparison to other sports already. Why not make it a live televised event somehow.
Is this another attempt at generating heat for Simmons stupid NBA trade value rankings deal, an annual tradition somewhere south of Toyotathon on every NbA fan's calendar, or the trade value equivalent of Michael Carter Williams
...seems like they might be engineering this to be some big trade day, when alot big trades are in no hurry, but they'll likely be able to talk about Melo plus Cash Considerations to Team X for rights to some foreign player who is 36 yrs old, and then Team X cuts Melo and pays the salary for Tilman to save him Tax...ala Onuaku to Cuban. then peeps here will call it a wicked-awesome, financial management move by Morey.

Woj: Lakers won't give away picks & top young players in some deal that makes them incrementally better. They've looked at guys like Ariza on one year deals who don't have money going forward. Houston falling off has made a lot of teams feel like we can be in that upper echelon, maybe we can sneak into a Conference Finals. Lowe: Lakers dream scenario is trade for AD & sign a free agent. Woj: Which elite FA are they getting? Lowe: KD kind of telegraphed his intentions Kawhi - we all would agree Lakers are distant 3rd at best | Woj: It's the Clippers Butler - seems to found a home in Philly Thompson - Warriors will max him out Kemba - Hornets will max him out Woj: Since Magic, they were hoping to get their own coach in. Jeanie has been fiercely loyal to Luke. That was her hire. ... Magic's view of a coach is Pat Riley. Luke Walton doesn't fit the view.
Literally the whole show has been about everything but trades Edit: soon as I say this they actually talk about the rockets and trades
Woj: (Kawhi) They can't change geography or weather in Toronto. Home in LA has been the focus for Kawhi through all of this. It becomes harder with a guy who has already won a championship. He's thinking of quality of life & where he wants to be. Maybe his best chance to win is in Toronto but it may not be his #1 priority. Toronto knew all season they'd be coming from behind and the case they made would not be made by Christmas. It'd be June and late June. They can offer more money but so could the Spurs and he couldn't get out of there fast enough. Anyone else besides Clippers & Raptors? Woj: Lawrence Frank/Clippers is treating this like a college recruitment. Lowe: Other one that makes sense is Philly but they went & got Butler. Woj: Philly will be a great experiment in how you put big threes together. That 3rd player better be a guy who will defer, is low maintenance.
Lowe: Team that should be panicking the most is Houston. They are hovering around .500. Offered four firsts for Butler. What can they do, what will they do? Woj: Their problem, they're looking at this, we're not one player away from anything. Butler is long gone. Houston is looking at itself in the standings saying we have a lottery pick, so we're gonna trade our pick for a player who will only make us a little better? They're in a tough spot to find ways to improve. Look up and down their roster, who wants any of those players? Lowe: That's why they offered four picks. ... The few teams selling, I do think one can get creative & make a player available that's maybe not known to be available like Taurean Prince in Atlanta. Detroit would throw a party for the 8th seed. Charlotte. These teams need upgrades & upgrades badly. Woj: Days of team wanting to give up good first round picks to get contracts off, ... Detroit tried to move Reggie Jackson through a couple regimes here. They'll have to put a pick into a deal to do it. So far, not willing. Charlotte, same thing. They want to move off some contracts. They want to re-sign Kemba. ...
LOL! The Rockets have been playing possum Trying to trick some team into thinking they will get a lottery pick since it didn't work . . time to get back to the 3 seed LMAO Rocket River
Lowe: Biggest story of the NBA is approaching the most pivotal moment of his career -- Anthony Davis. Davis is already eligible for the super max. If he says no, the entire league is in disarray. Anyone with trade assets - LA/Boston - will be doing everything they can to get him. The entire landscape of the NBA could change. The Pelicans desperately need to keep him. Woj: They thought they had a better team back than the one that rolled Portland but they've had a lot of injuries. Elfrid Payton may be out until the first of the year. Mirotic another week. They haven't been able to evaluate this group but they don't have time to evaluate. No one has been more aggressive. They tried to get Jimmy Butler. Their feeling is we won't mortgage our future, give our pick away & watch Anthony walk out the door unless we can get a difference maker. Woj: Boston has been hawking Anthony Davis for years. Now you have LA. If they get shut out in FA, they'll have to take their young players. Woj: There is no deal coming for New Orleans here where Davis says, hey I can win a championship. If he stays with the Pelicans, it's because of the super max deal. They can make the team better but a championship contender here? It reminds me of KG in Minnesota at the end. Lowe: This is the ultimate test of the super max. This is what is was made for, why the owners put it in. Right now, I'd predict he turns it down. Woj: Players keep passing on the super max. Woj: Draymond, unless he takes significantly less & he has hasn't talked that way so far, they can't pay 4 max contracts. If KD & Klay stays, unless Draymond takes a lot less, they can't afford him & that's the irony of that dust up. They can't pay everyone. They'll have more minimum role players around. The days of Livingston & Iguodala, they won't be able to do that.
Nothing of significance if anything will happen for our Rockets. I'm sad, but we have to be realistic.
