Here's some added detail about his "rejection" of that "$300 Million" contract:

At the general managers meetings in early November, Nationals GM Mike Rizzo said he made an offer to Scott Boras, Harper's agent, late in the season -- a reported 10-year, $300 million offer. That figure could be considered a baseline, although it does come with a couple of caveats:

    1. Rizzo would have known there was no way Harper and Boras would take that deal at that point in the season, so his public revelation of the offer was really more about telling the fans, "Hey, we tried to give him $300 million, so we tried to sign him." It's easy to throw that out there when you know it's not going to be accepted. What we don't know is if that offer is still on the table.

    2. We don't know the details of the offer. Were there opt-out clauses? Was a bunch of the money deferred, as is the case in Max Scherzer's contract? Was there a signing bonus or team or player options?

McCutchen to Phillies (3 years, $45M/$50M)

Blue Jays release Troy Tulowitzki (...not suggesting it.)

Does that impact their potential offer to Harper?

Dang, tough break Tulo. Unfortunately if I had to comp Correa to anyone, it would be Tulo. Hopefully Correa will have a more consistent, longer career.

Nope, they're still in on Harper.

Maybe but not for certain. Philly had room for 2 corner OF. Roman Quinn and Nick Williams aren’t worth guaranteeing a spot if they really want to contend this season. The bigger impact is that they have $50M less to spend, but I doubt that is going to prevent signing Harper either.

I would be ok with Brantley at $50M/3yr. Injury history doesn’t bother me at that price. When he’s in the field his upside is extremely high (6.5 fWAR in 2014) and so is his floor (never struck out more than 15.3%).

Have the Astros moved on from Keuchel completely ? Hearing nothing about talks ... is he worth keeping ?

Extremely likely he’s gone. Small chance his market doesn’t develop and he comes back on a one year make-good deal.

I assume then that you don't want the Astros to re-sign Verlander after this season as he will be Happ's age.

Keuchel signing a one year deal would be an EPIC FAIL.

JV is your protypical power pitcher, he seems to be aging well- see Ryan, Clemens, etc. Happ is not that type of pitcher.
