Rox in: Bazemore, MKG Hornets in: Gordon Hawks in: Knight, 1st Round pick. Bazemore/MGK add wing depth and defense. Hornets get scoring help for Kemba with Gordon Hawks rid themselves of Baze's contract and get a pick out of it.
Rockets in: Love, Hood To Cleveland: Knight, Gordon Rockets in: J. Holiday, Valentine To Chicago: Chriss, MCW, Melo Starters: Paul, Harden, Ennis, Love, Capela Bench: Valentine, Hood, Holiday, Clark/House, Nene
Codman mentioned Troy Daniels in the NBA dish. Get him and Holiday for some real 3 point shooting, then get Bazemore for wing defense. Lastly trade for Ed Davis from Brooklyn as a backup big. Dude is averaging 17.5 rebounds per36.
Would Markief Morris come with bird rights? The Rockets would have to resign him after the season to make trading for him make sense and the only way they can do that is if they have his bird rights. If they can make it happen, they should somehow trade for Morris and Obre. Maybe Knight, a first and a second gets it done? Morris can step in as the back up 4/5 and Obre could back up Ennis. CP3/Gordon Harden/Green Ennis/Obre PJ/Morris/Clark/Qi Capela/Nene/Hartenstein Other than getting the draft picks there isn’t much of a reason for Washington to do this. So, maybe the Wizards to this as part of a bigger trade? Maybe the rockets could help facilitate them moving Beal to the lakers and snag Morris and Obre for their troubles? Idk, just a thought. Also, idk how much this trade really helps the rockets. It’s definitely not a sexy trade but they would still have a few contracts to make an additional trade with (Chriss, Nene, Melo, MCW) and the buyout market to make more additions. Maybe the Rockets could move those 4 players and a couple of 2nds to Cleveland for Clarkson? It would help balance the roster and give the Rockets another scorer off the bench who has a tradable contract. Clarkson is much better than Knight imo. CP3/Clarkson Harden/Gordon/Green Ennis/Obre PJ/Morris/Clark Capela/Hartenstein/Qi Final move is the buyout market. I say they go after Carroll if Ariza isn’t available. Another big 5 would be nice as well. Is Speights still around?
http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yavkbrf9 Add Vince to us. Might/more than likely have to toss Atl a first for Bazemore. Seems like close to fair value for all parties. Could probably get us right outside top half of playoff picture. 5 or 6 seed.
Markieff is going to become a UFA at the end of this season. His contract is 8M. Surprisingly, his twin Marcus is going to become a UFA too. His contract is 5M. Source is spotrac.
I suggested Clarkson too. 26M for 2 yrs is close to 29 M for 2 yrs with Knight. A future 1st could be enticing to the Cavs. Carroll with the buyout would be nice. Oubre would be harder.
Markieff Morris is a good target. And yes they would have his bird rights. BUT, I would be hesitant to give up a FRP for him since he is expiring. I wouldn't give up a FRP for any expiring. Need at least 2 years team control. Morris would be a flight risk as he is underpaid in this market and there will be teams flush with cash in the offseason. That all said, he would be a good fit on the Rockets. He has a good relationship with Harden. And can play the 4/5 and has 3pt range.
I don’t know haha. Satoransky, if he’s actually available? There’s not a ton of viable options. Clarkson isn’t really a PG though. He will shoot you into oblivion - might as well let Melo play if that’s what you want.
Well, if there's one thing the team has, it's dead weight. Add to the dead weight those players that are inexplicably suddenly not in the rotation (Hartenstein, Clark), and you have a perfect recipe for Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.
Just spitballing an idea...... Rockets GET - Kelly Oubre - Markieff Morris - Ian Mahimi Wizards GET - {2019 some protection 1st Round Pick} - Brandon Knight - Marquese Chriss - Nene - EITHER: MCW or Melo or Hartenstein Wizards save close to 6M in the deal to get out of the Luxury Tax.
