Heck, I'm still mad about Senator Al Franken resigning due to some pimped up, over the top PC nonsense that pissed me off, and I'm an ardent feminist. Women's rights forever! The joke was a bit too dark, joking about beating children because they might be gay is a bit too dark and probably hits home to far too many people. Seems like a good thing to apologize for.

Just say that yeah, it was a joke and in retrospect you've come to grow and learn, blah blah blah...and then he eventually apologized anyways when he could have done that first?

It's always been a joke that no one wants to actually host the thing anyways so I wonder if he was just looking for an out.
