Yes, he didn't play last night. Sprained ankle from the last game. Young played better than he has, but still not as good as Lin has been. Trae Young ranks last in the NBA in +/- with a -4.15: http://www.espn.com/nba/statistics/rpm/_/page/11/sort/DRPM (this is not just PGs...this is all players) I don't really care if Lin is a starter or not, particularly on this Hawks team. I would simply like to see the Hawks making legitimate effort to win games. If that means Lin starts, then great...if it means he comes off the bench, then great. And if he gets hurt again, then he'll have to deal with it...but I'm sure he'd rather be playing with a chance of getting hurt than sitting on the bench trying to not get hurt.
Lakers fans hated Byron as a coach and saw how badly Kobe was playing that year. Kobe knew it too, which is why he shut himself down mid-way through the season. I have never talked about it being an issue of him having lower minutes this year. I have simply said that the Hawks have no real plan for him other than giving Trae a breather on the court. If the Hawks prioritized winning this season, I would say that he has played well enough above Trae to earn the starting PG role, and that he should be on the court at the end of games other than garbage time. But if the Hawks have no plan other than to give Trae a breather, then I hope he gets traded. On the other hand, if they want to win, I wouldn't mind if they signed him to a 3 year contract extension to play a legitimate 6th man role like he had in Charlotte.
He twisted an ankle in the previous game, so the coach held him out of the game. So what? Do you have a point about this?
He's not a reliable player enough to get so many minutes. He hasn't been a durable player in many years. I'm guessing that's why the Nets traded him and then picked up another guard.
Trae is perfect for Atlanta as he gets butts in seats and gives the team marketing material while also causing them to lose games and get closer to Zion
Yes...Nets traded him because there were too many questions about his return from his patella injury at the time to justify the $12M, and they replaced him with a guard who only cost $1.9M. Not sure how a twisted ankle plays into this. Lots of players with small injuries miss games early in the season.
Yup, the team sucks and the organization isn’t prioritizing winning. I thought we established that already?
How many Lin lunatics would show up to a hawks game? Actually how many Lin lunatics even know where Atlanta is? I really think none
As a matter of fact there is an active community of LOF in Atlanta lol, and last time they organized for a game 1000+ showed up... Look, just because Jeremy Lin has a fan base - especially with lots of those fans know nothing of basketball, it doesn't take away from your position that he's a mediocre player. And you don't need to build up Trae Young in order to put down Lin, because frankly Young has been pure garbage other than some decent playmaking. Until Young cuts down half of his shitty shot selection, Prince, Bazemore, and Collins are way more promising as developing players.
