"Harden has been fouled on 289 3-point attempts over the past five seasons, according to Second Spectrum data, more than any other two players combined."

Wow. I wonder who those #2 and #3 guys are.

Most relevant quote in the article from Javie

"He's really a unique player where he doesn't really try to fool the referee actually," Javie says. "Nine times out of 10 when you look at replays, you go, 'Yeah, that's a defensive foul.'

How the hell do you flop on offense, that’s so bullshit. Either you get fouled and you force the refs to call it by absorbing the contact or you didn’t. If somebody reaches or hand checks to prevent you from getting your shot up or blowing by, and harden forces the refs to call it by going up for a shot, that is not a flop.

A flop on defense is real because sometimes it looks like you made contact when you barely touched the defender and they just fall down. The refs call that sometimes whereas they never call that touch on offense. They call reaching fouls, grabs and holds.

You really want to call basketball a contact sport in this era where they protect the ball handler and offensive player and shooter so much? Where the post game is too physical so the rules killed it. Like really? Like really think about what you’re saying.

You see hardens moves being copied all around the leaugue. Players realize if you cant beat him, join him.

Too bad when they do it its fun to watch, but when harden does it he is scum. I talked to pistons fans a few years ago and they talked like they wanted to kill james harden.

these same fans killing him would be the same ones filled with excitement if he ever joined their team

I’ve always wondered just how much teams would give up for Harden if he was ever on the market just to see how much he’s truly valued around the league...maybe these fans will get a wakeup call when their GM is giving up everything he has to acquire the “flopper”

I mean we lose every freaking game. Seems pretty stoppable to me.

because the rest of the team is either injured or garbage

The man had 40 and 14 and 54 and 13 and we still lost. Our team is so bad that he probably needs to drop 60 point triple doubles in order for us to beat mediocre-bad teams.

Harden currently averaging a career high 31 ppg and 10+ free throws plus leads the league in total points created...that’s pretty unstoppable if u ask me

Worst part about TNT & ESPN is that they rarely show replays. It's just Reggie Miller and fans reacting biasedly. Root Sports usually shows several replays & angles that show Harden getting his arms raked

The rest of this thread should be people just repeating this post over and over again. Nothing else needs to be said on the topic...

There is contact in basketball that's not a foul. When a post players goes straight up and there is contact with the shooter it's not a foul but there was plenty of contact. More examples if you'd like

No one will come away from the article and give that quote the time of day.

The article is confirmation bias to those that look at Harden as a flopper that tricks his way to being the NBA's leading scorer.

People loved Iverson for 'sacrificing his body"

And Dwyane Wade. Exactly. For some reason Harden's willingness to sacrifice his body gets ignored and everyone focuses on "the flopping."

Not just that, Iverson was as tall as the average Joe and a superstar in a world filled with 6'6 - 6'9 dudes and 7fters.

Speaking of context and nuance. That article mentions the game Harden went to the FT line and was 19-19. The reader is lead to believe he had a parade to the line because of his trickery.

BUT...the "context" is that was a game where Harden got fouled late when Detroit was "intentionally fouling him to get the ball back." That INFLATED the FT line numbers. I think he got like 6 to 8 FTs from this.

That "context" IS NOT mentioned in the article. This is how a narrative is perpetuated. The reader is tricked. Perhaps ESPN is the flopper?

Another example for you is the freedom of movement, not only are they protecting the ball handler but they are protecting offensive players off of the ball. Also, the pump fake into the defender for free throws. You cant aggrssively back down or even slowly back down in the post if you are bigger and stronger. I can keep going.
