Looking for some recommendation on best places to order some. tis the season to cure hangovers and eat some delicious menudo. If you guys would like to share recipes or post youtube links, I appreciate that. Please don't spam with the boy group Menudo, The joke has passed and gone.
Whenever I go to aanew place and try their menudo, I have three thresholds they need to pass: 1.) Taste 2.) They don't load with hominy 3.) If they clean thoroughly To test out the third threshold, I always order one to go as well. That way I can take it home and stick in fridge. If there's not an inch of congealed fat sitting at the top of the cup after being cooled, it means it's been cleaned well and handled properly.
I actually like Posole better but that's just me. The green one is the bomb. as for recommendations...date a mexican chick who's mom cooks. edit: It's been years but Taqueria Cancun's posole helped my out of a horrible headache once. It was pretty good.
Been so long since I've heard a reference to the band Menudo....I'm puzzled by how a person can be sick of jokes about them.

Pick a good Mexican place on a Sat/Sunday (should/usually only served on Sat/Sundays). Mi Tierra in San Antone is the best I've had inside of the border and outside of various holes in the wall. Real menudo rarily has hominy in it, that's usually just pozole. There are a few places in Houston that serve it hominy but it isn't many of them. My top places for menudo are: 1. Aguascalientes on Broadway and 225 2. Taqueria Jalisco on Old Galveston and Monroe 3. Taqueria del Sol on Park Place and 45 I was super surprised that Taqueria del Sol had decent menudo, I think most of their food is meh. On number 1 and 2 make sure you ask for no pigs feet if you aren't into that stuff. Honorable mention is Villa Arcos. Is not really that good there, but honestly it does the trick for me. They do put hominy here.
