Each and every person in the energy industry is to blame for sweeping it under the rug, as well as Trump for blatantly being short sighted to gain votes.

    Last 4 year's are the world's hottest

Drought and famine + food insecurity in Africa, Asia and Latin America next year

It is telling the energy industry employees in Texas are ignoring the health of our kids and families so they can keep the checks coming in.

I heard Trump is "very intelligent" in the field of mathematical climate models.

Extreme temperatures and low crop yields in the Midwest. Killer heat waves in the Deep South. More severe hurricanes and flash flooding across the gulf coast. This is the new normal, and just like there is a rising sea level literally, we will see a rising sea level figuratively as well in terms of cost of living and cost to secure yourself a safe place to live. I’ve moved to Seattle and told everyone that I am a first world climate refugee. With milder and milder winters this place will be nice, and increasingly desirable/expensive to live in...just so long as that Big One earthquake never hits.

It's a very human way to collectively kill ourselves - consumed by greed, unable to maintain focus, and completely oblivious to danger that isn't right on top of us.

Mow we just need to start clawing each others eyes out to see who gets the deck chair with the highest elevation on The Titanic and the picture will be complete.

You do know, right, that the energy industry includes companies that do nothing but renewables because they are trying to save the world from climate change. Your brush is a tad broad.

A conservative who doesn't claim climate change is a hoax? I'm willing to give him a whole lot of linguistic slack.

There aren't many who claim it's a hoax, most just don't agree with policy that would crush the economy in what many believe would be a futile effort to set a global thermostat and prevent climate change that is inevitable. It's really more of a policy dispute about what if anything should be done than a disagreement that climate change exists.

No ONE, no one is immune.

The whole detached attitude is what allowed it to get this bad in the first place. We dont need to have an apocalyptic scenario or wait for epidemics to break out amongst the poor to get changing.

Here's what needs to be done - a hell of a lot more government intervention. Free enterprise has not been close enough to being responsible and consistently campaigns against the right thing if it doesnt have max profits attached to it. Carbon taxes are a small piece of the puzzle, widescale public transport and lowering the daily grind of Americans in larger cities another one.

Yeah see, I disagree. I think that's attacking the wrong part, that's seeking to set the thermostat of the world and IMO that's a futile effort. I see that carbon tax as nothing but something that will harm the economy and won't lead to anything good. IMO it'll be new technology that will be the "cure" to a climate that will always keep changing, especially given that countries like China and India will more than make up for any small cuts we manage by harming our economy. I think we're more than up to the task of engineering solutions to deal with the changes, even if we don't have all of those answers now.

Why are you so afraid of unsustainable growth slowing down, or having a slow period? Do you think China can keep growing if Americans consume less? The whole I dont know, we haven't figured it out, but we will of we keep drinking ourselves into a stupor is a sad alcoholic mentality.

Actually, aside from the issues of sin and death, the primary issue that the vast majority of people face is in fact personal economics. Not anything having to do with the Earth's climate.

I think it's foolish to artificially create a depression hoping to set the thermostat of the world. Over time, technology will keep coming along and will continue to be more sustainable, there's no reason to rush things at the expense of the suffering of the poor. I'm suggesting a more natural transition as opposed to a "Great Leap Forward"
