...everybody's doing it, remember? ...and exactly how many of these people "conspiring to establish an underclass so they can all get cheap maids" happen to be republicans or conservatives, I wonder?...
You are making up numbers and asylum criteria. And the oppressive government is the one with a racist president and hundreds of cop killings and mass shootings.
I think a distinct minority of people know or believe you are right. You are saying they were pushing women and the children to the front for thousands of miles? So thousands of miles of pushing to them the front? Where are you getting this? If they are doing it for economic reasons they don't get asylum.
I didn't realize how much of a longer trip cali was compared to texas for these poor folks. The financiers of this trip should be ashamed of theirselves for the false promises they made. I feel sorry they were led to believe this trek was a good idea. And sorry for the ciudads that are tasked with providing for these people. It is just an unfortunate situation all around.
"Jose Luis Tepeu, 22, from Guatemala, was sleeping on cardboard boxes on the ground. He said he would only wait five more days to see if help would come to take him to the United States, or even Canada. "If they don't come, I'll return to my home," he said, saying that salaries in Mexico were too low for him to stay and send money home to help his family. "You don't earn well here." https://www.yahoo.com/news/u-mexico-border-central-american-migrants-sicken-dire-195604467.html Oh yeah he definitely sound like a legit refugee seeking asylum alright.
If he isn't, then he won't get in. That quote isn't enough to determine whether he is or isn't. It is possible of asylum seekers to have more than one problem. If a person was in danger of being killed by a corrupt crime family and they had to abandon their family to get out, they may want to seek asylum in a nation where they could still send money back to them. If not they may try and go back to take care of their family and risk death. Them talking about trying to get asylum in a nation where they could still help their family doesn't mean they can't be a legitimate asylum seeker. They might not be. That's what the review process will determine. Let them go through it and find out.
How do you reduce the incentive for people who are not legitimate asylum seekers trying to claim asylum as a strategy to get into the US? Or is this just not something worth worrying about?
What a sob story. Guatemala GDP per capita: $4.1k U.S. GDP per capita: $57.6k If there were a country in which I could earn 14x on average what I could here, I would seriously consider immigrating there -- and I don't think I would be alone. FYI, it's like earning $800k per year. When Americans "don't earn well here" and speak up about it they are met with the illiberal volleys of "racist", "sexist", "xenophobe", "Islamophobe", etc. I think it only fair that those same members here on CF at least say they desire to direct those volleys toward the 22 year-old Guatemalan.
At least you can vote them out of office, let me know the next time China held an election, maybe you should look at this https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.newsweek.com/china-social-credit-system-906865?amp=1 Basically if you don’t agree with the Chinese government and you “Voice” your concern your life is pretty much over I don’t think I am making those number up. In this country we have close to 50%or more people who don’t like the current government, 100 million Chinese is only 10% of the population of China, If it’s anything it’s too low
Except that is EXACTLY the solution economists say the need - their population is reproducing enough to increase the labor force and purchasing power of the country - so the economy stagnates. Bringing in foreign workers solves the productivity issue from a labor force perspective, but those laborers take the money out of the country and don't pay tax - so it won't really help their economy enough to get them out of the stagnation they are in. They are stuck in low growth mode because they are a homogenous culture that doesn't want foreigners in just like Trumpsters. It's fine - you can want a whiter america with less Mexicans - you have that right and I get that, but don't try to back up your desire with the lie that it's for economic reasons. It's not. It has nothing to do with economics and everything to do with you feeling more comfortable in a whiter country. And you know what, that doesn't really make you a racist, it just makes you like most human beings who are small minded and live in fear.
There it is. The race card, being underhandedly dealt because you can't back anything up with anything else other than your own ego and feelings. First... No one is advocating for a white ethnostate here as far as I can tell. Also these are mostly Honduran migrants that even Mexicans don't want (which are nationalities, but not really important). This also has nothing to do with their nationality and everything to do with establishing a stronger border because if we don't we will get overrun with poor, low-skilled people once they see others do it on a mass scale. You don't think people from other countries are getting in on this already? News flash: They are and more will follow if they don't see a strong response. Additionally, you have to keep in mind that Japan is limited in size and also pushing its limits. Increasing its population won't magically fix all things facing the Japanese people. The world is going to have to decrease its population to a sustainable level anyways. Not every period needs to see growth. It is not sustainable. Japan needs to manage a population decline and so far they are handling it pretty well with outside labor. Robitics are advancing as well, which will help further keep money inside the country. It is not like they are the next socialist hell hole like Venezuela or something. Increasing population for the sake of only profit is not justifiable unless money is the only thing taken into account. It is actually kind of a small-minded way of looking at things.
Is that a George Soros funded Antifa operation? Hmm. I also have footage of a migrant caravan invasion of America. They even brought diseases with them. America would never be the same.
Not 30 years and not a huge decline.... relatively flat overall ... and yes economies decline sometimes. Accept it. It is also still one of the best in the world, beating out Germany which pretty much runs Europe right now.
Yeah huge difference. The USA didn't exist then. You are talking about something that happened a long time ago with different groups of people entirely. Things that played out in a way more complex way than you are portraying. Don't act like you aren't happy living in the fruits of the European enlightenment.
Current United States would be the Native Americans in your analogy? how did that work out for the Native Americans? maybe not the best analogy you could of made. You basically just made the argument for not letting any foreigners in the country (not that I agree with that position).
