Tristan Thompson was the cavs 3rd best player.

Go look at Love’s percentages in the 2016 finals.

    https://www.basketball-reference.com/playoffs/2016-nba-finals-cavaliers-vs-warriors.html

8.5 ppg shooting 36% from the field and 26% from 3. Lmaooooo

Doesn't matter if he was 3rd or 4th both their stats are almost the same. He was still "playable" against the Warriors and I'm certain without Love they lose to the Warriors (especially in game 7)

Thier stats are not “almost the same.”

Thompson scored more points on a better TS%, rebounded more, and had more blocked shots.

His offensive rebounds were the biggest contribution behind Lebron and Kyrie.

Even then, the KD warriors are a completely different animal than the Pre-KD warriors.

Love was terrible vs. the warriors in 2016 and consistently plays poorly vs the warriors.

Saying they don’t win without love is about as useless as saying they don’t win without Channing Frye.

    Love game 7
    9 pts, 14 rebs, 3 assists
    Thompson game 7
    9 pts, 3 rebs, 0 assists

Again WITHOUT LOVE they don't win game 7. Who cares about your metrics it was a ONE final game outcome and Love contributed (more than Thompson) when it mattered most.

    Game 5

    Cavs down 3-1

    Thompson: 6 points, 15 rebounds, 2 blocks

    Love: 2 points, 3 rebounds, 1 block

    Game 6

    Cavs down 3-2

    Thompson: 15 points. 16 rebounds

    Love: 7 points, 2 rebounds

Those 2 games down 3-1 mattered more. Without Thompson they don’t even get to game 7 in that series.

Would much rather see them lay out some picks and maybe Eric Gordon for Bradley Beal and one or two of Washington's role players. Beal is young, can shoot the three, and would be a more consistent, more reliably healthy replacement for Gordon.

Yeah.... his defense has improved greatly. He can defend capably at the 4 and as a back up 5.

Kevin Love has averaged over 30 minutes a game and 19 points and 11-12 rebounds the last two finals. Couple that with the style of play the Rockets run and he would be playing heavy minutes hypothetically if he were on the Rockets against the Warriors. He also is talented at knowing when to switch and guards better on the perimeter than most 4’s.

You would see Paul/Harden/Tucker/ Love and Capela quite a bit and when we went small; Paul/Gordon/Harden/Tucker/Love.

Even though he should be available I haven’t heard of the Cavs trying to move him.

The asking price for Beal is extremely high.

and he’s shot under 40% from the field and mediocre from 3 in the last 2 finals while going 1-8 in the last 2 finals with Lebron James on his team, while playing terrible defense.

Not really helping his case here.

Glorified Ryan Anderson making wayyyyyyyy more than Ryno. No thanks.

We do need rebounds all those 50/50 balls never go our way. And for all the praise people put on Capela he always loses those 50/50 balls or gets them taken away. (Not every but most of them) like tonight green poked more than 3 balls from Clint’s hand, one we were lucky that bounced out.
Pj always gets those 50/50 tho he puts his heart out but is sad to see him do that and harden or Eric or Clint not covering their guy or boxing their guy. Harden especially never even puts a body to get a rebound. Seriously is so frustrating. Clint tried to block and is way off and then if there’s a rebound he is totally out of position to get it. And when he has position he gets push or taken away from him in the offense and defense too.

Love at least has a magnet or knows where the ball will go. It’s not that hard to know just follow the path of the ball. We need another big though we are so thin on our bench. Morey needs to do something ASAP.
We need a back up pg and a back up center. And a shooter at least one.

So get love a pf would be good too,
Tyson Chandler would have been nice.

No to Kevin Love - Old , Slow and unplayable in a switching defense. Not worth the assets it would take to get him here.

as always... its about the cost....

If he could be had for nonproductive contracts (Knight/Chriss, etc) and a couple future picks... then sure - you do whatever u can to try to maximize our window now...

if its costing us rotation player(s)... then probably not....

Would rather have Otto Porter tbh. Need more of an athletic 3/4 with length and activity. He can guard any Warrior except Curry and Cousins and I don't think he'd be abused by those 2. He can also catch and shoot from everywhere on the floor.

Love is good (an underrated defender if not switching) and he would be a net positive against the Warriors, but it's just not our biggest need. We don't need much more offense. We do need a lot more defense and versatility.

Love would end up worst then the Dwight Howsrd mess. Would also trigger a cap tax hell. So no.

We need to stop going for former all stars that are injury prone/past their prime. Even in a win now situation, I'd rather go with younger and upcoming talent. Not to mention those guys are still commanding all star money
