Who would make for good moderators in the D&D forum?

I will volunteer. I read it all.

 

The problem is, everybody that is engaged and vocal enough is outspoken and opinionated. The people I can think of that might be good at it, necessarily are people who seem like they wouldn't care to have the job.

The people I'd trust all gave up on this place long ago.

 

@DudeWah would make a solid choice. He was a debate team moderator while in college.

 

Passion for the subject.
Self control and discipline.
An ounce of humor.

 

@heypartner has already shown us his power years ago, and it didn’t end well. You don’t want that.

 

If only @Mango was still around.

@Harrisment has been very unbiased and objective . I think he would be the best choice

 

@LongTimeFan would be a stellar choice

F that! The guy is super biased.

 

Tough job. I owned a sports forum for several years and the moderating aspect is frustrating.

A good moderator shouldn't pretend they don't have a political bias because that's a lie. A good moderator should just be someone who stays level headed, knows where the lines are and acts decisively without overreacting when those lines are crossed.

This forum is particularly tough to moderate because it's always been unclear exactly where those lines are in the D&D. Some of the constant harassment of a poster about being trailer trash is pretty bothersome even if it isn't as direct as a racial slur.

Every human on the planet is biased. Bias is inherent because reality is perception.

You cannot contain bias, you can only mitigate bias by becoming self aware.
