That's one of the biggest problems there has been more aid sent to to many countries that haven't lived up to there end of the aid.
The videos that went viral were of migrants running past MEXICAN police. Not US border patrol. Very inconvenient fact folks are leaving out to further a narrative and a scare tactic. I’ve been to this port in San Diego. I’m sure they didn’t get in the county especially this way. That’s why they had to temporarily shut down the port when they couldn’t handle processing that many people all at once. The only thing today proved was what we already knew... the Mexican government won’t lift a finger to help the US out with immigration. Countries like El Salvador and Honduras won’t do us any favors as well. This is why helping these types of countries out is often the better approach rather than isolation and hoping everyone else solves all your problems for you.
Trespassing is a crime. Nations have the right to defend themselves from these illegal actions just as they have a right to defend themselves from an invasion. Hopefully this catches on elsewhere in the world.
Tear gassing women and children on the other side of the border mind you for no reason is some inhumane bullsh$&.
I read the tear gas was used to disperse the (mostly male crowd) after some were trying to breach the fence and rocks and bottles were thrown at CBP officers. That could be a lie, and even if it wasn't that could still be up for debate whether it was merited. But saying "for no reason" seems disingenuous.
2013: https://www.sandiegouniontribune.co...-throwing-san-ysidro-2013nov25-story,amp.html "This type of rush on the border has not been seen since the late 1980s and early ’90s, when groups of border-crossers would run into the U.S. while agents tried to apprehend as many people as possible. The practice mostly disappeared after Operation Gatekeeper began in 1994 and brought with it tall fences, walls and more agents." video from the 2013 incident: http://www.cbs8.com/story/24088325/dramatic-video-of-border-rush
since when is using tear gas frowned upon? it's an effective means of dispersing a mob without doing harm
Noteworthy that trump supporters view the teargassing of a "mob" of mothers and children as something that should not be frowned upon.
It seems like most of the outrage comes when there is a picture of women or children being caught up in the chaos, even though the caravan has been reported to be roughly 75% adult male. Would a potential solution be that the US only allow in females and any minors that are accompanying them? Not allow them permanently, but at least allow them to seek asylum while staying in the US. All males would have to stay in Mexico and would get lower precedence in processing requests for asylum. This would free the women and children from having to be mixed up with some of the more violent conditions and confrontations at the border, which by far and away seems to be the biggest concern.
Any immigration law giving special treatment to those with kids, encourages child trafficing which is a huge problem in mexico. People show up at the border with random kids they've stolen.
Those women and children were deliberately put in harm's way to stage those photos, there is zero reason they should be storming that fence, other than for propaganda. And the media is happy to play their part in this script. An invasion force doesn't become sympathetic because they throw women and children at the barricades.
I deliberately watched MSNBC this morning to see their coverage of this. They apparently did not have access to video but were able to use many still images such as this one. It was strange but maybe they did not have the proper rights to air the numerous videos at the time. The story focused on the response of trump and disregarded the fact that the immigrants rushed passed and overwhelmed Mexican authorities.
Illegal entry (especially a mass breach as is being attempted here) must be stopped or you will get more of the same. We aren't the ones putting women and children in harm's way. These tactics (and the predictable response from leftist/media useful idiots) are similar to the Palestinians firing rockets from schools and hospitals.
Whose guilty conscious are you trying to apply salve to? This is the America trump has created. The America where we separate children from their families for months on end, and shoot tear gas at mothers and children. You can blame the "leftist" media for reporting on it. Or you can blame the trump administration for doing it. Your choice...
