If Rockets are going to trade with ORL than I hope their sights are set higher and willing to swing for fences for a potential superstar upgrade. Morey needs to go after Isaac or AG. Give up 3 first rounders if necessary. Either young guy will significantly upgrade 4 spot and bring Tucker off bench and reduce his minutes in regular season.
I don't like spend too much money on Knight, Chriss, Melo and MCW. Trade them ASAP so other players can rest. Chriss/1 First for Rozier. Save 2 million dollars.
It would be a mistake if trading Gordon for any expiring contract (not star). Khris Middleton Tobias Harris Someone else will offer them 4-year $100 million contract. Tilman will not overpay them next summer.
The value of our three or four first round picks dropped significantly from the time we put them on the table until now. Not saying that GMs believed we were on our way to imploding or missing the playoffs, but early in the season it did seem like last year was our peak and we overachieved and are just another middle of the pack playoff team; whereas now we’re “you’ve got Harden, Capela, CP can still ball?, you’re good”
AG is our answer because he moves the needle for us, IMO. If we could pull Grant Jefferson & Caupain at the same time it would be absolute hands down champions for us. (Caupain is the “Clark” of point guards & Jefferson is a glue guy every team needs. NEXT SEASON) Move Tucker to the 3 and cut back Ennis minuets. Cut or trade (for highly protected 2nd round picks / plus we send cash => keep the little cap we have) Melo & MCW to make room. Then Clark & Jefferson get real contracts and Edwards & Caupain 2ways. Capela will be odd man out so trade him for a combo point guard in the upcoming off-season. Going forward this season: Capela, Aaron Gordon, Tucker, Harden, Paul Hartenstein, Clark, Ennis, Grant. Work in Green, Jefferson, Caupain, Edwards ............ Gordon & Grant rights to Troy Caupain & Amile Jefferson For Knight, Gordon & 3 FRPs plus rights to Llull ............ Orlando turns the keys over to Isaac cuts 3 years off of AG contract picks up 3 first round picks & 2 expiring contracts next season and Eric Gordon should be incredible (contact year) for a redundant player, backup point, and some g leaguers that don’t get the time of day on their squad.
Hmmm. Devils advocate. I don’t see how Grant Jefferson and Caupain makes it “championship hands down”. You just called 2 of them G leaguers that don’t get time on Magic, so how would they get time for us. Grant? He can’t start over DJ. He makes it championship? Calling AG redundant does not make Orlando go “take him!” “HI THERE. ITS THE ORLANDO MAGIC. WE DONT WANT TO TRADE YOU OUR BEST AND MOST POPULAR PLAYER WHEN WE ARE CURRENTLY THE EIGHTH SEED, HAVEN’T BEEN WINNING MUCH THE PAST FEW YEARS AND WOULD LIKE TO SELL TICKETS. WHAT ARE YOU OFFERING? HORRIBLE DRAFT PICKS AND YOUR SIXTH MAN WHO IS HAVING A HORRENDOUS SEASON (LIKE WORST SHOOTING SEASON EVER)? IS IT OK IF WE DECLINE?
http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/25365122/jodie-meeks-waived-milwaukee-bucks Jodie Meeks: yes or no?
Not unless EGo or Knight is traded. But much better than MCW off the bench offensively. Just short for SG and not great switch defender.
Sure, quick question. You saw Eric Gordon last year? He not injured he needs a new start. If it doesn’t work he and knight both are valuable training prices next year as expiring contracts. (The 3 FRP was from another post to get AG => I just added to that thought). Grant is not a fit there but works here a serviceable back to eat blow out minutes and as filler. Both the g league players are fits for what we do. As long as we have Harden & Paul all we need is competent players around them. Not greatness just functioning.
Washington Markieff Morris & Tomas Satoransky ....for... Knight snd FRP maybe 2 Washington is in shambles Morris lost his starting job and they can turn him into an asset. Satoransky is intriguing but hasn’t done much (filler). He just got bumped into the rotation because they are shaking everything up over there. Hope a chance to win helps both. All 3 player’s contracts expire at the same time. Fills holes in rotation and adds size: Morris starts at the 4 & backs up 5 when needed (Hartenstein is primarily the back up 5) Tucker starts at the 3 & backs up 4 when needed (Clark is the primary back up 4) Satoransky finish blow outs => 4th guard when Paul / Harden / Gordon can’t or want go. MAKE coach run a 9 man ROTATION on MOST NIGHTS
Fultz, Muscala for Knight, Chriss, picks We have one of the best player development coaches in the league in John Lucas. I’m sure he can fix Fultz and if it worked out, Fultz would be incredible off our bench. His stock is down but I still think he can be a good player in this league. Still very young.
Then we'd just be making him scapegoat #2 after Melo. EG fits this team. Sure, he had a horrendous start to the season, some of his play is inexcusable, but we are also asking a whole hell of a lot more from him this season than last. We need a legit starting-caliber 3&D small forward, relegate Ennis to the bench, and a backup point guard who can hit open 3's. Wishful thinking says that Knight will fill the backup point role but realistically, it's going to take him a while to get back in playing shape and provide quality minutes off the bench (if he even plays in a Rockets uniform before getting traded).
What??? Asking him to shoot better than 32% is asking a lot? What is being asked of him that is different than last year? Not sure why some of y’all are obsessed with the term “scapegoating”. It’s not “scapegoating” somebody if they’re terrible play is actively hurting the team.
http://tradenba.com/trades/HyAVGiYC7 First Round lottery protected to Atlanta. This trade happens after December 15 so Carter and Melo can be traded. Why Atlanta does it? They aren't competing now and when they can Bazemore won't be under contract. They actually end up lowering salary next year and get a pick likely in the lower 20s. Why Washington does it? They get some tax savings, which they desperately need and they take a chance on Melo, who would be a starter on that team. Oubre is going to be cost prohibitive next year. Houston gets a lot of help on the perimeter and a low risk flyer on Oubre who could really shine in our system. Bazemore is clearly someone the team likes, he has played under MDA and we tried to get him in 2016. Losing yet another pick stinks but our window is now and clearly the team needs more. Vince would be another great voice in the locker room and still has stuff left in the tank somehow. Pick up a big man on the buy out market or someone like Anthony Randolph from Europe and roll with this team. This would give us up to 14 players I could see getting significant minutes, which we desperately need a longer bench to keep health for May. CP3 / EGO Harden / Ennis / Green Bazemore/ Oubre / Carter Tucker / Clark Capela / Nene / Hartenstein
