    I’d rather have a 4th year Ariza for 2 million, than a current Otto for $30,000,000... :D

(Or a 28-year old James Ennis who just shut down Klay Thompson, and shoots 39% from three)

I mean fine, Porter costs too much but going for Stanely Johnson is not going to move the needle against the Warriors. I dont care if Johnson is a sure thing or not either.

I'd rather have neither if we are going to play that game.

Do you think Keef would exist as a backup C here? I never got the impression that he could play a forward for D’Antoni.

I’d take a young Trevor Ariza for 2 million, but that’s just me. o_O

Otto could very likely NOT move the needle too...

In addition, it’s no secret that cp3 and rivers can’t stand each other going back to their LAC days...

    Fair enough.

I mean Otto was being paid like 10 mil, who would you take?

Just because Stanley Johnson sucks really bad and Ariza sucked as well doesn't mean Stanley Johnson is on that path. Not every player who can't shoot from anywhere turns into Trevor Ariza.

I don't see any reason why Keef couldn't play backup 5 in Houston. You can do pick and pops with him. He can spread the floor at the corners.
Getting someone that is "playable" as a big body behind Tucker would be helpful.

Rockets are LAST in the NBA in scoring from the bench. If you can add players like Keef at the margins to give the bench a boost that wouldn't be a bad thing.

I haven't seen SJ play much. Can you make a case for how he would fit in Houston?

BK, Chriss, Nene, 2nd rd pick should save them a ton of money and get a future pick to rebuild.

    Rockets need a backup center

    Obviously.

The similarities are that they are both fantastic defenders and Stanley is an absurdly gifted athlete. If we only take defense into account for instance, Stanley Johnson is far superior to Otto Porter.

Now of course, Otto is a much, MUCH better shooter, but he is also known as being soft and shy, and we all know his price tag. In our present situation, give me the $2 dollar dawg any day (dookie dawg). If you aren’t pulling a Butler caliber player, don’t kill our flexibility.

Otto Porter my man. I like Otto plenty. I like Joe Ingles even better. One is paid entirely too much for the role they fill.

Defensive dynamo that desperately needs to stand in a corner on offense, and not try to be Kobe Bryant. He has yet to accept his destiny: fast breaks, corner threes and perimeter defense. Physically he is a phenom of lateral quickness and strength.

Joe Ingles is not overpaid. Come on man.

I agree with you I'd rather have him than Porter for sure.

Shots a lot, misses more than 70% of the time. Great athlete, really good defender.

Ok, I can see the appeal here as it relates to "lateral quickness." In the new "freedom of movement" era, this is a skill that needs to be prioritized. And I can see the appeal of wanting to get "more athletic" on the floor. I suppose if he can be "passable" at the corner 3, he can find a fit.

But, bottom line, just moving out an "unplayable" Chriss for a "playable" Johnson would be fine.

We just have to make sure that Johnson doesn't cave in the offense the way MCW did with his poor shooting.

Ingles has one of those interesting contracts that go down every year. $13 million this year, down to $10+ in two years, when it ends. I agree that he isn't overpaid. Haven't looked into his defense (like, does he have any?), but he can shoot pretty well, managing 41% for his career from 3.
