Am I missing something with Porter? I've admittedly not watched him much but it seems like most trade scenarios ive seen from other teams would feel like way overpaying to me. I like the dude but he's way overpaid, 3 years at 26 to 28 million a year is a huge contract for anyone not a star.

I think he'd fit great on this team, and I'd do something like Knight, Chriss, Nene, and the 2019 first. But I've seen people say that wouldn't get it done. If the Wizards are blowing it up a bit, wouldn't they want 2 years of Knight at 15 mil in a heartbeat over 3 years of Porter at 26 mil? And from our perspective, we are locking us in hard cap wise with that one and basically taking away almost all of our cap flexibility. I feel like we'd be crazy to give up Gordon in that deal unless we are getting something else back

You're being mostly reasonable. Maybe even overpaying in your suggested deal.

Agree. I wouldn’t do that deal with Gordon either

Yeah I was honestly even iffy on saying a 1st.

One downer about it from the Wizards side though, Nene has another guaranteed year left I believe at around 4 million. Definitely be a better contract as an expiring. No way around that really, salary doesn't match without him, unless he retires.

Wizards view: Porter has a lot of more value than Knight, Chriss, Nene, and the 2019 first.

    2019 First has little value.

Wizards can get a better deal than this. They will reject 2 Firsts too.

They have to take Knight contract, otherwise Tilman will deny ...

Watching the Wizards/Clippers. Otto Porter is not very strong/tough.

I'm not sure who you think is chomping at the bit to give up valuable assets to take on a 26 million a year role player locked in for multiple years

I’m so over EG. His shot selection continues to be piss poor.. I don’t see his percentages being healthy at season’s end

Haha. I’m just saying, watching him go for rebounds, just looks kinda feeble

He's definitely a wing that can play stretch 4 but he's no bruiser.

Just to throw another stat out there:
538 Carmelo Projections have Otto Porter as one of the top 16 players in both WAR projection and +/-.

Knight/Chriss/1st and 2nds to Washington for Porter makes sense for both teams, especially if Knight can show anything after Thanksgiving. Would just have to dump Melo and MCW somewhere in the trade.

So he must be a bruiser then. Only explanation.

You must be following another Otto Porter in the NBA if you're thinking the one in Washington is a bruiser. No one is advocating a trade for this guy because of toughness. 10 rebounds is 10 rebounds .

Tough one for me. If we’re not giving up anyone in our rotation, and just picks and Knights contract, then a hesitant yes. Yes because it’s adding talent, he’s no scrub and love the idea of him and PJ at the corners. Hesistantly though because Knight and picks is our only asset left to add, and that contract leaves our team with even less wiggle room for the next few years.

Calling out his toughness was just me thinking of a scenario last minute of a playoff game, I want those players that are going to get dirty for those offensive rebounds and put backs against the elite teams. Something like what Harrell is showing.

I only stated the obvious and didn’t directly answer your question. Haha. I would say yes if we’re not going to give up anybody in our current rotation and because we’re going for it and we’ll worry about the cons later.
Definite no if trade must include EG.
