Beal has 1.5 times more trade value than Butler did. He is 25, all star, and has 3-year contract left.
we’ll definitely get outbid...Beal is too good and has too many years left on his contract to expect the Rockets to be able to acquire him miracles do happen tho
Agreed. Better off spending time talking about Otto Porter who is a more likely acquisition because of his status.
Yes. Well thought out on the Kings situation. They do have expirings that could fit us...and Knight and ONE PICK would be the most we should give up since we would be helping them increase their cap space for a future deal later after our deal. I could easily see that deal, flipping Knight and a pick....and possibly even one or more of Nene/Chriss/MCW to them for say some combination of, Shump, Kostas, Mason, and McLemore. All, expirings.....and good value if we got Mason back...for our pick. And McLemore could be a good budget replacement for Gordon if we moved Gordon, picks, and some of those other expirings later for another better piece than Gordon. (I'll leave out the possibilities of adding Capela to that mix. But they're there...and could make a lot of sense.) Then we go to the trade deadline with a bunch of expiring contracts, Gordon, Capela, and other picks to possibly turn a deal for a superstar....or star(s)...or better parts. I've talked about this in some of my posts in the Random Trade Thread. Morey is pushing to deal Knight...and possibly Nene/Chriss on or before Dec. 7 so he can then flip those incoming pieces as needed at the deadline. Coberx should already know this. He's probably unable to tell it until after Dec. 7 or closer to that date because of the sensitivity of the talks, which is why I'm hiding it here now.
if I could insert a gif of the preacher from "Blazing Saddles" here I would: "Or are we just j**king off?" Lacking a crystal ball and knowing how Porter would fit in here......overpaid but plays good D, shoots the 3 at a high percentage, and probably will get more open looks with two of the game's best point guards feeding him. But making the money work. Not giving up Gordon, if possible. And if giving him up? Getting Oubre or whatever else to match value.
Get those peepers back on Otto Porter. I can already hear Bill Worrell asking "you down with O.P. 3 !?" every time Porter hits a three-point shot. Bullard will shout "Yeah, you know me!" It will be really fun. Can't wait.
I think eoplenreally underestimate the idea of Beal not wanting to come off the bench. The reason the wizards area a mess is partly because of the egos of Beal and Wall. They didnt even like each other until last year. He’s a budding star. Why would deflate his value and come off the bench: he’s in the prime of his career, it would be a backwards move
We would definitely start him. But it’s a moot point - we simply do not have the assets to get Beal, a young star locked up to a reasonable contract for several years. Porter and Wall are talented players on onerous deals, which is what makes them available in the first place. Wall is immensely talented but the fit is weird, while Porter has less talent and a skill set that matches exactly what we want to do. I trust our front office to test the waters here and make the right deal if the opportunity presents itself
Everyone on the Otto Porter bandwagon, what's the justification for it? I just don't get it. The guy is making $26 million a year this season. And the team just got done letting Ariza walk because Morey didn't want to overpay him $15 million a year for role player level production. If that's the case, how does adding Porter at 3 years, $82 million make any sense? Beal I at least somewhat understand, even if I'm not totally in love with it. To me, he's a rich man's Eric Gordon. Although I'm not sure he's worth nearly double what Gordon makes, I don't necessarily think he's overpaid either in this market. You have to pay a premium for a legitimate offensive weapon like that, and if Morey could make it happen, I could definitely get behind it.
A team can take Beal, Oubre and Mahinmi contract, no pick needed Capela/Gordon/nene/Chriss for Beal, Oubre and Mahinmi contract. Then Tilman has to pay Mahinmi and Knight contract at the same time or dump them with 4 picks.
Rehab is just copying - this morning's rumor. Hornets are keeping Walker. Even if the Wizards are open to listening, it’s not clear what sort of package the Hornets would be willing to put on the table for Beal. Percy suggests (via Twitter) that Marvin Williams and Jeremy Lamb‘s expiring contract might be a start for salary-matching purposes, with Miles Bridges, Malik Monk, and/or future first-round picks among the assets Charlotte could include in a proposal.
