No it's actually converted to Landry Gift Cards--the same ones Chris Paul and Clint Capela will receive in exchange for actual dollars.

Speaking of RPM, did you see ESPN has released it for this season. Harden is 6th and Paul is 16th. Marc Gasol is number 1...wow.

Lol I did and that's what spurred me to look up the stats from the past two seasons. No one is disputing that Porter is overpaid but to say he's overrated and is only marginally better than Trevor Ariza (knowing that Porter is 25 and Ariza's 33) makes me question the knowledge they are hearing/reading.

Keep in mind: I'm spitballing off the top of my head here, but given that our biggest needs are backup 1/5 and forward depth....

I mentioned Terrence Ross and Joe Harris. Ross is expiring and I think Harris can't be traded until January. Still on my radar, though.

James Johnson via trade makes a ton of sense for reasons that were beaten to death on here all summer long.

Recently signed players that could help:
    Wayne Ellington
    Ed Davis
    Mike Scott
    Shabazz Napier
    Kyle O'Quinn
    Alex Len
    Vince Carter

    Potential buyout candidates:
    Wes Matthews
    Robin Lopez
    DeMarre Carroll
    Wilson Chandler

    Via trade:
T.J. McConnell - severley underutilized in Philly
Bev - maybe if the Clipps drop in the standings
Jaylen Brown - if things go south in Boston
    T.J. Warren - reasons I already mentioned
Harrison Barnes - if Dallas drops in the standings and the price is right
Bazemore - also been beaten to death
JaMychal Green - similiar to James Johnson
George Hill - expensive but a solid two-way combo guard

I don't want to derail the thread, just answering the question and making the point that patience is an option too. I do recognize how good Porter was the previous two seasons and it's reasonable to assume a change of scenery would do him well. I just have reservations about the massive price tag and a desire to address our other needs as well.

Why not? Go back to playing Simmons at point guard. Simmons, Beal, Butler at the 3. Embiid. When you go small (which is funny with Simmons at the point) you could go Simmons, Reddick, Beal, Butler and Embiid. That'd be amazing.

Thanks man, I appreciate posts like these. You make a solid argument. What do you about Jonathan Simmons?

Eh, not a fan. He can't shoot....unless he's playing against us in the playoffs.

Ross is the one that really interests me.

Makes sense for Phoenix to do something ridiculous to be honest.

I expect the Suns to ask for Wall, not for Porter, why would they when they have already Warren, Bridges and Jackson? They need a PG and a PG.

Not to harp on this, but I really want to understand specifically potentials you have in mind... so

This is fair enough... but i don't see a move that gets a deal done here. The Suns aren't going to "give up" Warren for salary dumps, or for Rockets draft picks... not when they can likely get much better deal.

Again, not to nitpick... but if Orlando looks to move Ross, he's on the last year of his deal. Orlando probably does NOT want to take back committed money. Orlando probably does want a first. I guess the risk would be using contracts that you might otherwise need for a deal like this?? Because Knight/Chriss/Nene doesn't do anything for Orlando.

    Same with Nets.

But I understand your point. Which is hold off, wait it out, and maybe there will be a cheap bench type piece.

I'm not sold there will be anything like Aaron Gordon or a real legit starter that would be available for Knight/Chriss/Nene/Scrubs + 1 Rockets draft picks (the later of which will undoubtedly be protected and the former of which won't be that good, theoretically). You can add EG or Tucker, or EG and Tucker to that, but I'm not sure if that adds tons of value depending on the opposing team, and definitely think that it'd be step forward, step backward if you include either of those players.

The point with Porter is he's a legit starter you can play 30+ mpg and might potential need to send out basically 0 of value for.
