Sounds to me like MDA just prefers to have a player who will buy into what he says implicitly, with no grumbling or questioning. Clark is obviously going to be more that guy than Melo. Considering their history in NYC, I doubt it would take too many sideways glances or muttered quips to make MDA question the feasibility of this whole project. Even just a heightened sense of tension from Melo about his role might be enough for MDA to throw in the towel.
So we’re starting guys now not because they actually deserve to, but because their ego can’t handle coming in off the bench Shook? Do u know how mentally weak this makes Melo sound? Wade is a 3 time champ and was far better than Melo in his prime, and he can come off the bench. Vince Carter accepted a bench role in Dallas. Washed Melon is acting like he’s too good to come off the bench.
the logic around here for such a mediocre player at this point of his career is just awful. but then again meloof's have the same mentality of "I" instead of team. remember all the i trust mda, morey, harden, cp3 as counterpoints to many of our questions and concerns. my how the tables have turned and its everyone's else fault but melo's. scrambling to find any reason to save face. yeah might as well still be westbrook's fault. only a matter of time til hes gone with all his baggage and unnecessary distractions. good riddance.
But the Rockets are not the ones wanting to part ways with Melo it is Melo the one who wants to leave. If the Rockets wanted to part ways then they would have submitted the paperwork already. The GM and the players all are reaching out to get him to come back. So if there is friction starting up and MDA threw in the towel the GM and players aren't following along.
Yeah I know how mentally weak this makes Melo sound. Dwight was also mentally weak, but if you can give something meaningless to make the team better, I'm all for it. I don't like it, but If meaninglessly starting Melo so he has confidence, I see no problem with that. Even with punk ass Dwight, a couple more touches in a game of hundreds of touches would have given the Rockets Dwight the defensive monster and rebounder.
We know that Melo's camp is leaking to Woj so here is exactly what happened. Mike told Melo, we are sorry but your minutes are going to be cut because we want to play Gary more. Plain and simple, Melo does not believe he should be taking a back seat to a rookie so now he is contemplating his career and whether he should remain with the Rox. It's obvious now that Morey and his Melos camp came to a mutual agreement to look for other teams to trade Anthony too. We know Anthony's camp is taking advantage of the media hating the Rockets so they are probably telling the media to make Melo look like the poor soul the evil Rockets are screwing. Low and behold, Melo is suddenly a media darling. Rockets will remain classy as always and let the situation play through and just move on with their head held high. Melo's camp will likely not find another team willing to let him be a feature 2nd or 3rd option and well, at this point either Melo will come back and be the good locker room guy that everyone knows he is or he will retire.
Yea what it seems is Melo isn’t happy with his role. He wants more minutes and thinks he deserves more touches or time instead of someone like Ennis or Clark. Cp3 still wants him here which might be the a cause of tension between Cp3 and harden. I don’t know for sure but it seems that’s what has been the issue too. Aside from The rumors of Eric being moved for butler (which got into his head), There also seems and issue with the chemistry within the new players.
only Melo can still not want to buy in coming off 2 failed stints in NY and OKC...he will always put himself before the team, always How will some on the team react if they see that we’re starting him mainly because he’s b*tching about a bench role when he’s not even that good? Everyone else is buying in and focused on turning this rough start to the season around, and then there’s Melo who just joined the team is already having issues.
Never mess with them Italian America. They know how to do revenge, dirty style. "oh sure, we will welcome Melo with open arm, even though he got both of us fired in NY and Denver."
My guess is that Melo wants out and the Rockets don't think he's worth keeping around if he's going to be grumpy. But it's not like Morey just to cut Melo without trying to turn this to our advantage first. Feigen's article said: "a person with knowledge of the situation is saying the Rockets 'are definitely looking at everything.'” Does anyone know if he's available to be traded yet? Another important snippet from Feigen's article: You don't have to be a stats nerd or full believe in +/- to know how something like the above would affect Morey. He can wish Melo was the answer to some of our problems all he wants, but when he's not going to ignore the evidence that says otherwise.
to me, it’s just better to get rid of divas like this then to placate or deal with their nonsense I’m sure Ego would love to be starting, but he does what the coach asks of him and accepts coming off the bench. Declining, washed, no D Melo acts like not starting is an insult.
Houston Reporters making the Rockets look like the Bad Guys. Even the Houston Media is against the Rockets.
He can't be traded until Dec 15th I think... I posted the OFFNTG DEFNTG and NETNTG before last night. Melo was -9.0 Net while everyone else on the team was negative also including Harden and CP3. Before the Pacers game Clark had an OFFNTG of 91.6 which is not very good. I didn't check them after last game.
There was a time when Harden was playing no Defense when everyone else was scraping like crazy. People on the team realized that Harden was just not going to play defense, but they knew he was going to bring it on offense. I see Starting Melo the same way. If it did happen, it would have been an "it is what it is" type of situation, that wouldn't have derailed the goal of winning.
There are ways to assure (and incentivize) teams to snatch someone off of waivers ... if they do, that will save the Rockets some money. I'm sure they are letting the idea that Melo is getting cut settle into the minds of other teams, as well as assure other teams that Melo is not a lockerroom cancer and is worth snatching. And I'm willing to bet there might be some due diligence by other teams occurring (that requires a little time) and maybe even some quid pro quo (both legal and illegal) talks going on behind scenes with teams to get someone to take over the contract...albeit, it being just a vet min.
