    Trading or releasing a player shouldn't be seen as a personal attack on his character or that he's the scapegoat. If you breakup or divorce someone because you don't mesh well together, it doesn't mean you view them as unworthy of your love. Sometimes things don't work out. The pieces don't fit together.

    Also, a lot of greats were released from contracts at the end of their careers. Jamal Mashburn was waived by the 76ers, retired, and now owns 38 Outback Steakhouses, 40 Papa Johns, and 4 Dunkin Donuts.
