Saw it last night with my gf. Based on the IMDB rating and other people's reviews, I thought it was a bit over hyped but I did enjoy it. I'm a Queen fan so naturally I enjoyed hearing the songs but I was more interested in the story of the band, and the story behind the band members, and a lot of the movie felt like gratuitous scenes to just play Queen songs (this becomes more apparent in the latter half). That being said, if you are a Queen fan, go watch it. I imagine my gf was bored at times because she isn't familiar with their music.
I saw a review that said. . . .. remove the music and the montages of the making of particular songs. . . . .and there is no movie Love Rami as STAGE FREDDIE .. but not in most of the other scenes where is was playing an OVER THE TOP STEREOTYPICAL FLAMING GAY PERSON (which they felt was counter to the introspective semi shy person Freddie was suppose to be off stage . . . .i dunno but that is what they said) They did not blame Rami but the Script They also felt the whole thing was disingenuous and felt phony . . . .. tooo many inaccuracies and too much attempting to make the band 'look good' rather than tell the truth I was interested in seeing it and still might but I looked at this and was disappointed. (These guys are a bit over the top too . . .soo . .. grains of salt all around) Rocket River
