This trade makes me think the rumored four firsts and Gordon deal was a fabrication by Minni to get better offers. I can’t imagine anyone thinking Covington+Saric+a 2nd is a better deal for a team trying to restock its core.
Gordon and four 1st rounders was never talked like it was on the table, it was just speculation by some fans here. Stein actually said that if the Rockets were going to offer the picks and Gordon they were probably getting Butler.
Saric could be a pretty good shooter/playmaker/scorer. And alot younger. While EGo is establishend and less of an allround player. And you add a good rotation player in Covington.
The 4 picks was centered around Knight and Chriss. Plenty have written that already. No way it was Gordon and 4 picks
Of course it wasn't, you can make an argument about Saric being a better piece for Minnie than Gordon, for his age, his contract...but Gordon would've been a good fit too in Minnie, a better one on the court in fact, and four 1st rounders, for how bad/protected they were (we will never know) are always going to have more value than a Covington. Like Stein said Minnie would've probably jumped on an offer like Gordon and four 1st rounders.

The "melodrama" is over, and it's time to move on. Morey will continue to look for ways to improve the roster. What choice does he have?
"add in a good rotation player"? Covington is arguably the best player to get of the three. Especially when you adjust to: performance this year, age, salary and injury history. SI has their Top 100 like this: Covington = #47 Gordon = #48 Sarik = #54 CBS has their Top 100 like this: Gordon = #54 Sarik = #65 Covington = #67 ESPN has their Top 100 like this: Gordon = #42 Covington = #49 Sarik = #57
Probably my understatement of the week. But hey, everyone got their moments. Curious why you call him Sarik though......Saric in Croatian.
I get that they didn't want to deal with Houston. But the Miami offer was better, before they pull Richardson off the table.
Exactly this. Exchange Ennis for Covington and we are WCF-bound again. With less shooting, Philly is worse off.
I'm actually relieved. I was terrified we were going to send them 4 first rounders. The Rockets are so bad that I think adding Jimmy isn't enough. And more than that, I think if the Rockets didn't turn it around we'd lose him in the off-season anyway. Hopefully now we can set our sights on some adequate replacements for Ariza and Mbah A Moute. And maybe even somebody who can adequately back up the center spot.
