I just don't get it. Is this the first WH press conference that people watched?

Every single one of them has multiple reporters trying to push in follow up questions. Every president had to deal with it. Trump deals with it like a child thus it's so jarring.

No office deserves automatic respect. We aren't enlisted servicemembers. We are citizens. The founders never intended for any elected office to garner automatic respect.

Im tired of this "the office deserves respect" bullshit. Who came up with that silly premise anyways?

That joke wouldn't work if the obvious person that was being reffering to wasn't the President.

    You do know that?

And there you go. If you aren’t respectful to me (meaning if you give me a hard time with your questions), I’ll ban you. Door fully opening toward how Putin run his press conf.

There are some too naive to see it, and there are some that agree with it because of the cult or dear leader mentality.

There is a norm to this. As usual, this president is destroying the norm of how a president acts. But the press remain with norm. Now people actually want to demand more from the press... it’s freaking trumpism.

So perhaps of mr president before a question, they need to start with dear glorious supreme leader.

You know, when you say things like that, you actually trivialize and insult the victims of Putin right?

To those of us who actually read books and have some understanding of modern Russian history and the story of Putin, Trump's petty spats with certain members of the media and others in no way resemble the crimes of Putin.

Not my intention at all. And I see what you mean.

I could have phrased it better, but when I said fully opening toward, it’s a crack toward that direction.

And in my thinking, someone that look up to the like of Putin and Kim, constantly lies without shame is capable of doing anything. Much easier to close the crack when it’s still small.

Obama had Chris Wallace excluded from the press pool; allegedly for "asking tough questions".

Folks, there is precedence in Trump's decision. Remain calm.

    Fair enough.

It just rustles my jimmies when people compare modern American political figures they don't like to some of the worst criminals/events in history... (such and such is a "nazi", this is like the holocaust, he is as bad as Hitler) this for me... it trivializes the real horrors people suffered and is insulting to the victims.

But Trump is supposed to adhere to a higher standard than Obama, or something.

Hitler wasn't the Hitler we knew today in his eventual creep to power.

Understanding how facists obtain power especially from what type of rhetoric they use are important history lessons.

...probably the same people who thought it was some kind of patriotic deed to hurl insults at the last president during a televised national address...

Yea well, if you actually know that history and actually believe Trump's ambition is to take over the government, that's just *facepalm*.

I'm not a huge fan of Acosta. On one hand it is good that there is someone that is willing to question authority (regardless of party). However Acosta is just a weird guy, and at times makes it too much about him.

Having said that, what Acosta did isn't like what Lewandowski did. Go back and watch both videos.... what Lewandowski did was find someone walking away, and not expecting it, and pulled her hard enough that her entire body shifted to the left as soon as he went over to her.

That isn't anything like what Acosta did.........

The actual interaction between Trump and Acosta was dumb all the way around. We have the President of the USA and one of the top press people in the country engaging in something you expect to see outside of a liquor store in a bad part of town. Decorum is GONE. A lot of that is Trump's fault, because he is has zero decorum, but Acosta deserves some criticism as well as he showed little respect........ Acosta doesn't have to like Trump, but he needs to respect the office.... and Trump doesn't have to like Acosta but he needs to respect the part the press plays in our democracy.

This just isn't a good time for the USA when it comes to our political systems.

And supposedly Drumpf didn't want to win.

And supposedly Drumpf wasn't going to run for a second term.

    *facepalm* indeed

That's not true. President Obama didn't go on Fox News Sunday in 2009 after Fox was the only network not to broadcast his speech to Congress on healthcare...instead showing an episode of "So You Think You Can Dance". He did not exclude Chris Wallace from the press pool. He simply did not go on Fox News Sunday.

Kind of 2 completely different situations.

The comparison, that I see is fair, is how did someone like Putin and Hitler get into power and get to the point of doing the evils deeds that they did. It doesn't go from 0 to 60. It's gradual. Many people already ref boiling frog fable. You can definitely compare the early stage, the mid stage, the late stage...
