As far as Trump goes, the Senator Graham that existed then and the Senator Graham that exists now might as well be two different people.

Gee susan, if only there was a group of people that could do something to protect the integrity of the investigation... maybe you could create or join such a group. Hey, you could even call it something catchy, the like United States Senate.
I don't particularly like Jeff Sessions. I wouldn't be upset with his firing under most circumstances. The one circumstance in which he's fired that I would object to is if the president were to do that so that he can assert his control over a titularly independent investigation of himself so he can undermine and detail it. And just like he had telegraphed that he was going to fire Sessions, he's also telegraphed that he's going to shut down the investigation. You are watching corruption in slow motion. You're the frog the president is boiling -- turn up the heat slow enough and you don't even realize you're getting cooked.
...all of this stuff tastes like chicken anyway, so that might not be all that much of a problem for a lot of people...
