Because it should take less than what Thibs is asking for JB. Minnesota wants useful pieces, draft picks and for Dieng's contract to be absorbed. I would rather deal for the guys that will cost us less and are also locked into a multiyear deal. The Wizards FO is hopefully not as delusional as Minnesota's. Porter's slow start could lower his value some.
I thought 160 Million was a bit much for Gorgui Dieng, so I Googled it. Here is a link to Gorgui Dieng's contract. https://www.spotrac.com/nba/minnesota-timberwolves/gorgui-dieng-13334 And here is the breakdown Year 1: 2017-18 27 $14,112,360 Year 2: 2018-19 28 $15,170,787 Year 3: 2019-20 29 $16,229,213 Year 4: 2020-21 30 $17,287,640
Otto Porter has been the best non star role player in the NBA the past two year. Top 15 in all the NBA in both RPM and win shares. Been a knock down 43%+ 3 point shooter the past two year and he doesn't turn the ball over much all while playing plus defense at the 3 and the 4. Anderson has never posted anything close to the advance stats that Porter has shown he can provide and sucks on D. The comparison is about as bad as you can get.
His contract is bad but he would actually be helpful for our team. We need a backup big man in the worst way. I would do Chriss, Knight, NeNe, Gordon, Qi and 2 firsts for Dieng and Butler and Tyus Jones. They definitely won’t get 4 first if we have to take Dieng. Paul - Jones Harden - Green Butler - Ennis Tucker - Melo Capela Dieng Plus Clark could compete.
then there is no way you have enough available assets to get it. They don't view Knight as useful piece. Tilman is not going to approve Dieng's contract.
good idea, but Knight, Chriss and nene have to go to 3rd team because they are not useful piece for Wolves.
Dieng? Not only a bad contract but isnt this the guy who pushed cp3 down then stood over him? Yea lol he isn't coming to Houston. Get off the gas....
We need a back up big, but we need a good one, that's the problem with Dieng, and this without considering the taxes Tilman would've to pay just to have him on the roster.
Maybe in year 3 or 4 but they can always buy him out later. For the next two years, the taxes would be the same. Cuz all the guys we are trading are under contract. As a fan why do I care if our owner is paying taxes. I’m already upset he let Ariza and Luc walk. His luxury tax bill means nothing to me. I just want us to win a championship.. If he doesn’t want to pay luxury tax he should stop charging fans luxury tax when we go to games..15 dollar beers? 24 dollar drinks?? 12 dollar chicken strips?? 8 dollar popcorn???
That’s the Wolves problem if they want to get rid of Dieng. They can’t expect any team to take Dieng and help them facilitate three team trades.
I'm all for taking on Dieng. ESPECIALLY if it means we save a pick or two. Morey managed to move an unplayable Ryan Anderson. He'll be able to move a younger, cheaper better defender who I geniunely believe would look fantastic in our system.
