Gordon isn't in Jake's universe defensively. Jake has more power, too. We have Kemp to cover 2B, along with Yuli. I'd rather take a chance on our prospects to play LF as George and Reddick are far better defensively and offensively than Gordon.

And if light hitting OF's is your thing, we already have Myles Straw.

    Corbin Martin for J.T.Realmuto

They don't employ Jake to hit (for average, I guess - batting average?); he's here to provide stellar defense, speed and his annual short-lived power surge that they'll ride into the ground.

He'll also make three(ish) times less money than Gordon, who brings almost nothing to the table.

    NOPE on Dee Gordon

His OBP was .288 last season. He only walked 8 times all year. His game is entirely based on speed and he will be 31 next season. His stats show he is slowing down. He stole half as man bags as the year before and his stolen base percentage dropped from 79% to 71%. One third of his hits are of the infield and bunt hit variety. You don't want that guy on the downhill side of his career.

Let's move on from the Dee Gordon talk, and enjoy banter on other targets that will most likely not be Astros as well.

Haha, I love the baseball offseason/winter meetings. I do feel like baseball does the best job of staying relevant year-round. Trades/rumors/free agents keep us engaged for several months, and next thing you know, pitchers and catchers start reporting.

The Astros don't need Dee Gordon.

The Astros need someone that can rake in the middle of the line up....... someone ideally that can cover a position other than just DH, but most importantly someone that can fit in the 3-6 of the line up and hit well.

Dee Gordon can go elsewhere......... Nelson Cruz is a far better fit.

Ramos (replaces McCann/Maldonado), Murphy (replaces Gattis/Marwin), S Gray (replaces Morton), Gio Gonzalez (replaces Keuchel), Britton (replaces Sipp). Team would be better than last year’s and likely better than 2017. All for less than $50M, payroll would be only slightly higher than 2018. And they’d still have their prospects.

I would love to have Michael Brantley but I doubt the Astros will be in the mix.

    J.T. Realmuto for

    A. Tony Kemp and Corbain Martin

    B. Tyler White and J.B. Bukouskas

    Or
    C. pass.

Being reported Braves have the strongest offer on the table but the Marlins would rather get them out of the division.

They want Promising Pitching Prospect and MLB ready positional Player

Pretty sure every single GM in the history of MLB with the exception of the Marlins GM would do that trade.

I'm not sure what need Brantley fills? In theory, he could be your '17 version of Reddick (offensively) - but the Astros very obviously hope Tucker can fill that role. DH? I think they're more than content to let Kemp/White take that.

They may see things differently; but my hunch is they want a giant power bat for the middle of their order - a certified 35-40 HR guy. And that's just not Brantley.

Sign Brantley and include Tucker in a package for Kluber.

Then sign Wilson Ramos and a bullpen arm.

    Lineup:
    Springer
    Altuve
    Bregman
    Correa
    Ramos
    Brantley
    White
    Gurriel
    Reddick

    Bench:
    Stassi
    Kemp
    Marisnick

    Rotation:
    Verlander
    Kluber
    Cole
    McHugh
    Peacock/James/Whitley

    Bullpen:
    Osuna
    Pressly
    Devenski
    Peacock/James
    Harris
    Smith
    Rondon
    Justin Wilson/Tony Sipp

    I just said this.

They have a strong offer but they really want him out of the east.

White and J.B or Martin gets this done easy

Regarding report this morning of #Braves having a “strong offer” on table for #Marlins’ Realmuto, I’m told that’s incorrect, that no offer has been made by Braves.
