I don't think G league games apply unless you're officially with the team, even if you've already been drafted. Despite playing in the G League last year, Hartenstein is listed as 0 years experience on NBA' website.

Got it. My bad about the incorrect statement on Hartenstein's rookie status.

Haha. Not yet. But I'm glad D'Antoni is playing the young guys to see what we got.

    Effort? Yep
    Instincts? Unrefined, but present.
Fundamentals and footwork? Raw, but improving.
Lateral quickness relative to the NBA? Nope.

The best you can really hope for is for him to grow competent in defending Cs and larger wings, only really breaking out of 10MPG if he gets his 3 ball down.

I submit that Hartenstein's nickname from now on be "Land Walrus".....especially since he's always sliding and falling every.

IMO Hartenstein's key role is to be a solid backup big in the regular season. This allows Capela from becoming overextended. It would also allow Nene to get a ton of rest during early part of the regular season.

But IMO, unless Hartenstein makes a tremendous leap, the backup big for the postseason will be Nene, or they'll bring in another veteran before the trade deadline. In the postseason, Hartenstein's likely an end-of-the-bench guy, which would be fine.

I would never put vast improvements past a guy that works as hard as Hartenstein does. He has a ways to go, but he is still so damn young. I think he is going to be a good NBA player.

Why the heck isn’t this dude playing? You draft a guy, spend resources for him to develop and he doesn’t play when your team is clearly lacking height, your starter is our 6 weeks and your backup is old and washed up and played once a week?

    This front office is frustrating

Honestly i would rather see this man play in garbage time quarter than low effort Chriss, but then again we need to build value for that shtty center to trade him.

The problem with Hartenstein is he needs to develop a 2019 skill on offense. I'm pretty sure they believe in him more than Chriss, but improving his stamina and 3pt shooting in the G League is not useless to Hartenstein. I think we'll see him again later in the season.

Those are the things he needs to work on ?

    I pretty much agree .

I think more than that he just needs the game to slow down . But those two attribute are key towards finishing on offense , which is a weakness of his .

I'm disappointed he hasn't gotten much of a shot this season . I thought his defensive potential looks really good . He just fouls a lot . Also , some of those fouls IMO are "rookie fouls" where if it's a more experienced player doing the same thing the whistle isn't blown .

Respect on the thread. I like Hartenstein a lot. His size is sorely needed against certain lineups. I don't get the coaches sometimes...
