I went to work in Florida last year after Hurricane Irma. I qas working for tree trimmers that worked under the power company. Tree trimming isnt skilled labor. That being said i was with general laborers cleaning the tree limbs after they were cut. All the actual tree trimmer, permanent employees of the tree cutting services were Hispanic. Most of the lineman were white. Lineman is really good non degreed job that requires a licence. Here in Houston ive been working general labor jobs at construction sites for labor halls for a couple of years. 80% of the skilled labor is Hispanic the rest are white with a few blacks. I have talked about blacks taking more responsibility for our internal problems. I get a lot of push back. I really don't think a lot of educated blacks understand how bad our situation is. Its one thing to talk about whites having white privilege. Whats the Hispanic privilege?
at first I was like "not another uncle ruckus post" but then I was like ok I still don't get your point
In Ontario, I met this guy who's a Syrian political activist, he cut trees for like 7 months a year only due to snow but he makes enough to own a 400k house, and plenty of time to study part time and campaign for Syrians refugees
What kind of trees? What was his job on the logging crew? River or machine or both, as far as moving them?
Sidenote* A lot of the guys were from Orlando working for the company i worked for. A lot of them were Cuban but they were all Hispanic. I don't know why they make so much money. One dude had a Jaguar coupe and a mistress with kids besides his wife with kids When hurricanes go through Florida its a cash grab. All of us were on the clock 16 hours. 7 days a week. The linemen must hhave made at least 3 grand a week for 3 weeks Florida is a deregulated power market but Florida Power and light, their Centerpoint covers the whole state
You do know that a lineman is a skilled dangerous job and I’m sure if pg wanted to work his way up they would be more than happy to have him. Keep on playing that funky music white boy.
I always figured it was that blacks are more entrepreneurial. Most black people want to start their own businesses thus don’t really care about getting into blue collar fields . Maybe that’s just me stereotyping
I think many of the African American issues are related to single parent households. The number is pretty staggering.
Are you now in perpetually-offended-can't-recognize-a-joke mode? I need to know for future reference, especially for when Spring Training starts. Or do you just really hate Glen Campbell?
Why is no one talking about barber shops? Can you believe it... I wanted to go get an undercut and talk about carmelo anthony but all I saw was fancy pants haircut franchises. dear black people, it's time to make barbershops glorious again! Sorry, hispanics, I don't trust you people giving me haircuts. this guy at bellas artes on longpoint wanted to give me some george clooney look from the 1990s. I love the 90s but no means no! But seriously, I don't see the thread. Are you saying that hispanics are more willing to take odd jobs? I don't buy into the single parents/ broken home theories. Growing up, one of my besties Felipe was were you got your weed if you went to Memorial high in the mid to late 90s. We lived in the barrio at the time, now that place is million dollar homes ,but he had the best family ever. A lot of them were like that, great families but still had to do barrio things. Maybe, it's as simple as, where there is poverty there is always struggle and some find it a thrill to get caught up in that life. What are your solutions? If I could fix it, BELIEVE ME..I'd be president. You would just have to change the constitution a little here and there, but I know some love that. I'm not going to name names but some of you love it. Article II, section 1 of the constitution is a little overrated if you ask me. Should I name names? -Ramblings of a madhambre
Oh it was joke? I get it now! I guess it’s going to take me a while to grasp the lefts sense of humor. That was a good one though. BTW Glen was cool.
Rocket River Hispanics do much better than us ecnomically because they are raking the skilled labor jobs We arent mving up the corporate ladder. Why do you think they are taking the skilled labor jobs? Honestly all the conservative anti immigration talk is about jobs as they aren't just taking these jobs from blacks. Im not anti Hispanic/Latin immigration. Whites are still at the top of the ladder. The issue as far as blacks are concerned is we are falling backwards because of internal issues only we can solve. Thats why i stay on this topic. Working these jobs has awakened me to a lot of reality. That's a lot of my personal change from when i left the forum.
