I’m not familiar with his posts so wasn’t sure. I just find it funny how people want athletes to “stay out of politics” usually when said athlete disagrees with their stance.
that is a silly thing to say. i would encourage everyone to pay attention to the news/current events so they know what is going on and can make informed decisions. i would also tell people who dont pay attention to the news to sit down and shut up and not pretend like you know what you are talking about.
these are the same people who complain about hollywood and celebrities getting involved in politics, but voted for a reality tv star for president and pretend that they like the music of kanye west and ted nugent just b/c they said they like trump. the second a "celebrity" champions trump they are all over it, but if another one is critical of trump they want them to shut up.
I agree. I also thought that except for some wind-up in the questions, the room seemed to respect him. And maybe it was politics, but the camera stayed on for a while when it was all over, and folks who may not have known they were on camera (or maybe they did) seemed pretty happy to chat with him.
Yes, it was all very civil and respectful. It was amazing how well he knew the details of the package and could discuss them extemporaneously. I was impressed.
I would say that's a different animal. In one case, they stay in the entertainment/sports arena, but wear their politics on their sleeve; and in the other, they become overtly political and run for office. They are two different things, IMO.
You can stay up to date with current events without watching these news networks looking for ratings all day like some people do. Meanwhile don’t stress yourself over things out of your control and go what you can do to make yourself better, which you can control.
Haha. That's not quite what I said. Here's what I think. Fox is conservative, but has some sensationalist tendencies, like any large or MSM news source. I still look to them more than anyone else on TV for news. The left-wing bias of every other TV channel these days is as mind-numbing as it is oppressive. Breitbart is largely opinion/analysis, and also has some sensationalistic tendencies, but is unafraid to be non-PC, which I find very refreshing. They also cover some things that no one else dares to examine. BTW, it looks like Breitbart is the only news source, so far as I can tell, that is covering the fact that one of the Kavanaugh accusers is now admitting that she lied. (I think they were all lying.) No one else is covering this, as far as I can tell. I think there are some very good YouTube channels out there. And the basic reason they are better than any type of MSM news source is that they accept little to no advertising. I'm not anti-advertising, but as soon as any media accepts it, their message and reporting necessarily becomes constrained. I find Stefan Molyneaux and Jordan Peterson pretty interesting. I agree with a lot of what they say. I don't agree with everything they say. But they are willing to address issues that almost no one else takes on. In fact, this problem is starting to happen to YouTube as well, because they want major advertising bucks as well. And so, channels that dare to be a little different, and not just be vanilla, are starting to get "demonetized."
Totally agree with this. Moreover, if you follow the news 24/7 (or something like that), it's very easy to get lost in the "trees," and not see the overall "forest."
Straight from Better Call Saul. Come on, be a little original. https://www.kvue.com/article/news/l...ing-people-to-vote-for-ted-cruz/269-610869436
Next time somebody complains about "out of state money" influencing a Texas election, remind them of this: A few weeks ago the letters were sent out. Soon after it was discovered that pastors at First Presbyterian churches throughout the area received letters and flyers from the faith and freedom coalition. Several of those envelopes were postmarked out of Wisconsin and New York.
Nope. I would feel the same if LeBron (or whoever) donned a MAGA hat. Although, it's a bit irrelevant because 95%+ of entertainers are left wing. (Yes, I know, Kanye......but that just proves my point. He's going back and forth like a kite in the wind, which isn't a great thing either.) I'm increasingly of the viewpoint that one just has to accept that artists/entertainers are left wing. If you quit listening to and watching all your favorite entertainers and musical artists because of their politics, you would pretty quickly not have any favorite actors/musicians left. It is what it is. I actually think that the thing in their brain that makes them special at what they do, also prevents them from thinking logically. And logical thinkers are probably not very good artists either. Still, it would be objectively smarter for an entertainers to mostly keep their views to themselves. Really, what's the upside? Cutting your audience in half? As far as I can tell, they aren't really accomplishing anything. Did Bruce Springsteen's playing for Kerry and HRC help them? And I say this as someone who loves his music. In the end, I've just had to conclude that I have to separate his product (which I like) from his politics (which I don't like). Maybe that's the thing. An entertainer comes out and does something political. Then the question is, is their product still good? In the case of the NFL and now increasingly with the NBA, I find the product not worth my time. Then, when they start to act political, it just makes the decision to ignore their product all that much easier. (Hope that was worth it, Mr. Athlete) And now, I am going to go out and enjoy this lovely weather, and I exhort all the denizens of this board to do the same.
Would you respond like you did if they did wear a MAGA hat? Probably not. I get it though, it’s probably more difficult to hear when it comes from a viewpoint you don’t agree with. If Jared Allen or someone came out with a MAGA hat I wouldn’t say “stay out of politics”. Believe what you want. Do you think folks should be able to differentiate political views from social ones? I appreciate your poignant, dignified response btw.
